For the six lucky scientists selected by the Destination Mars! corporation, a one-way ticket to Mars - in exchange for a lifetime of research - was an absolute no-brainer. The incredible opportunity was clearly worth even the most absurdly tedious screening process. Perhaps worth following the strange protocols in a nonsensical handbook written by an eccentric billionaire. Possibly even worth their constant surveillance, the video of which is carefully edited into a ratings-bonanza back on Earth. But it turns out that after a while, even scientists can get bored of science.

hard to encapsulate without spoiling ...

A fun, surprising, imaginative story about what might happen among humans who colonize the red (orange) planet. Heart-warming, inspiring and a little frightening in places. The performances were spot on - I really loved whichever narrator read the "How To" sections. With Stefan a close 2nd. highly recommended.

Whatever her age is she's amazing and performs her memoir so graciously and with such feeling and warmth it's like she's in the room. This book covers her early years through Dynasty's beginning and what a career she's had. It was originally published in the 80s so this is a wonderful time capsule. I got the sense that she's like the Forrest Gump of Hollywood from the 60s onwards - her path crossed with literally everyone who was a star in those decades. The stories from the early film sets are a scream. My favorite quote is probably "Show me a faultless person and I'll show you a dull one!" but it was hard to choose.

Macleod Andrews delivers the goods with his deeply immersive performance of wonderful characters - major and minor. The post apocalyptic desert Southwest comes alive through the characters and action. In parts funny, sad and action-packed - a really imaginative tale spun by Harmon Cooper. I feel inspired to write a haiku to honor the listening experience.

even if you aren't into Z/A give this a try

I've seen this on the site for so long and when it popped up in Audible Plus I figured why not give it a try for free - and I'm so glad I did. I'm not a huge fan of zombie stories but this isn't really that - well it is - but it's really a story about a guy who needs to just keep putting one foot in front of the other in very difficult circumstances, friendship and effect of isolation on the psyche. Really great character work by R.C. Bray as usual and some good tension and surprises. And zombies. It's really great. Thanks for making it free Audible - next up Safari!

Other reviewers have mentioned Dan Stevens’ performance and I agree - superlative. The story’s icy world comes alive too and the action produced goose bumps on my skin that weren’t cold related. Great tension built for the final act. Don’t want to talk too much about the plot points and spoil others’ discovery because that’s part of this book’s joy too. highly recommended.

This is a wonderfully imagined world brought to life by the great and always entertaining Travis Baldree. I felt like I was on an adventure with the brothers, reminding me why I miss my sibling and the best times of childhood. Plus cats.

I’ve loved the tv programmes these ladies did going back to the original French and Saunders sketch show and this is like a warm bath with a glass of wine. My only question for Jennifer is how come she loves fennel and not licorice? I wish they’d explored that a bit more. Season 2 please.
