First off, this is a sappy, angst-y, with all the feels to an HEA. Yes this could be a Lifetime Movie, it made me tear up while I was getting my nails done (so beware, coz I had to pretend-yawn to hide it). But every once in a while, I am in the mood for a book that delivers the epic romance, the lush setting of an island, a villain to hate, redemption, second chance love, make-me-smile moments, the secrets - lies - deception, and all the corny elements of a "telenovela." I think this book packed so much conflict (and after listening to over 3K romance books - "cliches"). It could have turned into a bad book, had it not been for the way L.A. Fiore brought all of the elements together in a well-narrated book. When I say well-narrated, it is a combination of the story-telling both by the author and narrators, Chris Dukehart and Will Damron.

I am not going to rehash the plot so I can make this review short but the story, the characters developments, and the conflicts resolutions culminated into a very satisfying ending. In addition, I borrowed this book through KindleUnlimited and debating whether to buy it or not. For now, I am leaving a review to remember that I borrowed this book and enjoyed listening to it.

Disclaimer. My use of the word "cliche" is from my point of view. I recognize that what I consider as "done before" maybe a new to someone else.

Another 'hot-mess' Rom-Com Heroine

I'm losing patience with rom-com heroines who are protrayed as "hot mess(es)." Not a little bit of a hot mess in the beginning but a hot mess throughout the whole book. Sure Bridget Jones pulled it off, but I think this rom-com schtick is getting old.

Unlike the Samantha in another of Ms. Kinsella's books The Undomestic Goddess, Poppy in I've Got Your Number seemed to make one unwise decision after another. I couldn't relate to this heroine. I don't remember my 30-year old self being such a push-over as she is. Don't get me wrong, I have a number of chic lits but everytime I read one I hope to come across stronger heroines like Rachel in Kevin Kwan's Crazy Rich Asians. I also have several of Ms. Kinsella's books and appreciated heroines like Samantha Sweeting. Lately, I seem to appreciate books in which the h has a backbone and common sense.

I didn't find anything special with the narration either. I think I was just too busy wanting to smack Poppy upside the head to even appreciate the narration.

Anyway, I got this in a 2 for 1 sale, essentially getting this book for free. I'm returning it, even after sleeping on it, I'm still annoyed that I wasted my time on this. Why did I finish the book? I thought I was eventually going to like Poppy, but nope that didn't happen even with a cute ending.

'Savage' and 'Pooper' made me LOL... on the train

This is my first book by Ms. Orgeron that I bought from one of the Audible sales but it sat in my library unread for a long while. Today however, I was looking for something light, funny, and short so I finally listened to this book. It definitely delivered. I took the commuter train home today and had the hardest time controlling myself from bursting into giggles.

Ms. Orgeron's characters Spencer and Cooper aka 'Pooper' were developed well. Unfortunately, the conflict was not that original as it is about a mother who is afraid to commit. Nonetheless, it was still enjoyable listen as portrayed by Jillian Macie (new narrator for me) and Eric Summerer. Loved, loved Savage or Kyle who brought the comedic relief to the story. Well done.

Heroine too “soft” to trust in anything

I listened till the end because I’ve already invested in the book wanting to give the heroine a chance to redeem herself. Also, Natalie Ross gave a 5-star performance. I can’t get over the heroine’s unwillingness to believe in herself, in the hero, and in the relationship until the last 20 mins. Instead of finding the “softness” endearing, I just found it annoying because it somehow turned into stubbornness. 2 star story turned around by narration. Btw, Kim Law is usually a 4-5 star listen because I couldn’t get the softhearted premise of the plot - I think it would have been aptly titled, “Unsure”

I love Kristan Higgins and pretty much have given 4-star reviews for all the books in the Blue Heron series. Ms. Higgins is one of my go-to authors when I am feeling nostalgic and need a light "listen." I have had "Anything For You" in my Wish List but have avoided getting it because I was wary of the not so flattering reviews about this book and didn't really want to dislike Connor nor Jessica - characters that were introduced in some earlier books. The writing as always is solid, hence my 3 star review.

Amy Rubinate's narration raised my overall rating to a 3. It was the 2-star plot that spanned 20 years of "push and pull" on Jessica's part that disappointed me. I seem to remember Jessica to be a strong character in one of the earlieer books. Unfortunately, in her own book she seemed to have become indecisive, while Connor letting Jessica do this to him for 20 years did not endear him to me either. The HEA wrapped the story up nicely (hence the 2 star) but I disliked Jessica for almost 75% of the book, I couldn't fully enjoy it.

This book is LOL funny and witty and relate-able. The plot reminded me of the movie “Bad Moms” wherein the heroine tries to make the best of life after divorce - ex stuff, teenage kids, sarcastic mom, and dating. It makes light of serious topics via witty dialogue and banter. Lori (h) is such a strong character in spite of her insecurities that i wished the book had been longer. One thing that I thought was unbelievable though was the “insta love” from Peter(H). But, I’m not complaining. I believe that the h totally deserved her H and HEA.

Amanda Ranconi’s delivery was spot on, enhancing my experience making my commute through bad traffic (due to accident) bearable. Really, I didn’t mind my almost 2 hour commute home on a Firday.

I’m raving about this book as a must read especially if you can listen to it for free through the Audible Romance package. Definitely, worth your time. If you are a reader who think mid-30 to 40 is too old, you may want to stay away. Otherwise, worth the credit. Happy listening!

Two broken souls who find solace and a second chance at love. Narration by Brian Pallino and Erin Mallon enhanced the story and better than if I read it myself. I highly recommend for those looking for a moving love story. It's worth the credit and my time devoted to it.

Thought this was a trilogy-didn't realize it was a 6-book series until I checked Amazon. I stopped listening because not all books are out on audible and had no warning whatsoever. I will hang on to this since I bought it on sale but will not get the rest until I can listen to all one after the other. Audio is not good quality either. So I may just read it.

The couple made this book thoroughly enjoyable. A Duke and a "Duchess-that-is-to-be" both with great sense of humor made the chemistry between this couple well-developed and believable. The conversations were easy to follow and very natural. It's so refreshing to find a couple with really bad pasts (one was kidnapped and sold/lived in a harem and the other abandoned by deaths in his family), who weren't traumatized to the point of being overly dramatic or angsty. Both of them have "glass half full" personalities. The book wasn't a tear-jerker per se but this likable couple made this book engrossing. I was glued to this book and slowed down the listening pace to 1x - because I didn't want to miss anything - especially the dialogues. It was that good!

Kate Reading is always superb. Her male voice (especially of Lucien) is very appropriate to the protagonist's character. Kate's characterization of Zoe is a bit mature for her age (24 I believe), but believable nonetheless. It's been a while since I've had to press my rewind icon so many times because I just didn't want to miss a dialogue or a description. Perfect historical romance audio listen, in my opinion. Well-executed by Ms. Chase and Ms. Reading.

This book comes highly recommended by someone who has amassed over 2K audio books, rated 515 and written only 26 full reviews and made it a point to write her 27th audible review for this one.

I rate every book but don't always write a review. I must say that this is worth my time and credit. Witty banter between H/h is what makes this listen worth my while. I highly recommend. By the way, fun read if you're in the mood for light, fun, easy-breezy romance.
