Brought me back to the old days of MMORPGs

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Going in to the material, I did expect to enjoy it. I am into the erotica, and I've been into online gaming for many years. This was my first experience with the LitRPG genre, and I feel this combination was perfect for me.
The major standout point here for me was the fact that the game actually felt like something I want to play, a big part of that is levels mean something. Our MC is not simply a max level raider, in fact there are very few max level characters within the entire player base from what we're told. This gives an excellent impression of relative power level between characters, as well as their dedication to the game. Equipment also seems to be handled more classically. Rather than getting caught up in a staff having +728 intelligence and +1091 stamina, we're simply guided to understand that the staff grants the user access to certain power they'd otherwise be completely shut off to. This helps a lot in the world building aspect of the game.
I think J.J. Jenness was an excellent choice of narrator for this audiobook as well. The initial impression I was hit with in hearing a male narrator was one I expected to not like. This being erotica, I tend to prefer female narrators. However, J.J. fits very well, due to the direction the plot takes, as hinted by the title, and I found myself enjoying J.J.'s narration because it fits the MC so well. The best narrators I find manage to make me believe they're the character speaking, rather than a narrator.
The main character and two supporting roles were quite enjoyable, we learn about each of them and I found myself enjoying the troll comic relief too much, which it seems is exactly what was meant to happen. The rest of the guild, and the villain, weren't explored much, but it's clear as the first part in an intended series, that this book was more about the MC's transformation.
To top it off, if you're like me, and you wouldn't mind getting stuck in the avatar of Lacey, you're likely to enjoy this too.
