The last thing they expected was to be thrust into a realm-wide underground resistance against Gardnerian conquest. While the Resistance struggles to fight back against the harsh rulings of the Mage Council, more and more Gardnerian soldiers descend upon the University…led by none other than Lukas Grey, now commander of the nearby military base. Though Elloren tries to keep him at arm's length, Lukas is determined to tie himself to her.

I need a book 4
Revisado: 09-29-21
Oh Jeff please tell me there is a book 4!? This was like a good movie, action love romance a lot of mystery and fantasy all rolled into one book and then you just leave me hanging with a dragon and revenge! Maybe a new trilogy to continue the story like when the child is grown? I need more lol!! Great job to the writer and the narrator for leaving us all wanting.

Phoenix vs Dragon
Revisado: 09-19-21
In my minds eye and as a lover of mythical creatures I always thought the dragon and phoenix would be allies but not in these lands. Dragons are anti human and the phoenix is pro humanity. But just as diverse as we humans are so is the dragon species and these people are dealing with the dark ones. Secretly I hope there is a gold dragon somewhere that will challenge these evil beast. But I think its just going to be the phoenix, they are born of the fire and die in the same way but this war will be won with cunning and these dragons are not the brightest in the crayon box which is often the case with lawful evil personalities because they are just too self absorbed to see the bigger picture. Well I am off to read the 3rd and what appears to be the final book in this series and will see you all on the next review

Feels like real people
Revisado: 09-11-21
As human beings we all struggle with the light and dark within us all. Would you die on purpose to save a world that hates and fears you? I dont know that I would and my honor is very important to me. Heros are not born they require active choices. Bingmay is a young woman being asked to sacrifice her life to save a world that hates her for being born different. She at least is unsure what her choice will be unlike myself and Im sure many other readers of this series would be when the answer would surely be no or there has got to be another way. I hope she refuses, I want her to be the hero that finds another way to accomplish the same thing. I guess we will find out since I am off to book 2. Thanks Jeff for another great series!

Better Narrator makes for better read
Revisado: 08-30-21
So I was gifted this book for my thoughts and as always I am honored. I will start with this. I seldom approve of switching narrators. In most cases the 1st narrator has already established a voice for the characters. Often times they pronounce the names of characters differently and that can be frustrating. However, in this case, this was a wonderful and successful idea! George has really brought the characters to life in this book which the 1st narrator failed to do and I am pleased! This was a very good book! Family conflict a war between gods, darkness and light plus plenty of suspense. Sadly though I have to now wait for 3 to come out. Definitely worth making it through the first one to get to this one and I am confident that the 3rd installment will be just as awesome!

Not a Bad Story but a Strange one for Sure
Revisado: 08-07-21
As many others have written this book has witches, lycanthropes and warriors who have a berserker mode but its also about family. Jaran and Savanna are twins trying to avenge their fathers death and end a feud that has gone on for generations. As least this is what I have gathered so far. The fact that this is book 9 in the world make things a little clearer. It explains why I feel like some of this information is assumed to be knowledge the reader already should know and most likely is for those who have read the other 8 books in the world of Ansu. Also Andrew McDermott has a unique reading style that I have enjoyed in other narratives he has done but this one he was just a bit bland. With the cliffhanger ending on this one, I feel like I need to read book two for a better understanding.

Historia
The Moon will soon return. Whether this heralds the destruction of humankind or something worse will depend on two women. Essun has inherited the power of Alabaster Tenring. With it, she hopes to find her daughter Nassun and forge a world in which every orogene child can grow up safe. For Nassun, her mother's mastery of the Obelisk Gate comes too late. She has seen the evil of the world, and accepted what her mother will not admit: That sometimes what is corrupt cannot be cleansed, only destroyed.

A strange yet interesting end to the series
Revisado: 06-22-21
This set of books was far different than what I had originally expected but it grew on me. This book in the series was filled with sorry, heartbreak and renewal. When Nassun, dying crawled to Essun, it was in that moment the child knew she was loved and in turn she decided to save the world. The narrator turned out to be Howa and the story of how he was once human. A story of people and how hard it can be at times not to be a monster. Over all, it was a good read. The narrator did a good job of building the story and bringing life to the characters.

Historia
This is the way the world ends, for the last time. The season of endings grows darker, as civilization fades into the long cold night. Essun - once Damaya, once Syenite, now avenger - has found shelter, but not her daughter. Instead there is Alabaster Tenring, destroyer of the world, with a request. But if Essun does what he asks, it would seal the fate of the Stillness forever. Far away, her daughter Nassun is growing in power - and her choices will break the world.

Mother and Daughter Collide
Revisado: 05-26-21
This second book in the series has brought much clarity to the story. We now know why the time of "Seasons" began or at least the cause. The moon, flung from orbit and now they are hoping to bring him back. But sadly, as humans do when things happen they dont understand or fear we become bad parents. Unfortunately Essun fell right into step because she believed it was the only way to keep her children safe. Of course that did not work. Fear caused a man to slay is own son and to attempt to do the same to his daughter. A mother passed on a tradition of cruelty because she thought there was no other way. Humans hate anything they fear because we cannot all flee in terror and with hate comes anger and angry people are not afraid. Im looking forward to book 3.

Historia
This is the way the world ends...for the last time. It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world's sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester. This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the Earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

Read the Summary First
Revisado: 05-17-21
So I confess, I got this book some time ago and only listened to the sample at the time of purchase. The author must be under the impression that readers have actually "read" the summary first. The reason I say this, I have listened to the entire book and was so confused!! Until I read the summary, right before I wrote this review, I had not a clue what a "season" was! The narrator was great, she gave life to people and many concepts of a future life with a special gift seemed spot on because of her skill. Relevancy to the modern world? Not so clear, but who cares! I am so intrigued with the lives I am following!!! I have children and if the government insisted on attempting to take one or both of my children from me and.....I knew they would torture them in an attempt to turn them into a monster.... I would spare them that suffering as well. My heart reached out as only a mother can... a mother who herself has been tortured.....she expected to go with him.. and then.... Alabaster.... I leave you, the reader of this review with this, Read book two. I dont yet know where this story will take us, but dont leave your self in the sorrow that this will leave you in..

Wizards and drow are set to ravage the world between them, just as they had in the past...As Drynn travels back to the forest, rumors of drow haunt his steps. His brother may have killed a wizard, leading many, even among his friends, to demand his death in return. Desperate for another solution, Drynn is relieved to discover that another bearer has been called, Princess Josalene. She moves with a confidence Drynn lacks, calling an army to her side and making herself the Queen of Kalum. She has a solution for the drow problem as well.

The Queen and the Robe
Revisado: 05-07-21
Josalene believed the lies of Soren and she should have known better! She is proving every negative thing ever said about humans true! I am pretty confident that Sorens reputation proceeds him and she could have had Cole instead! Now Josalene has allowed Soren to imprison another. it is because of these things that I dont think she was meant to be a bearer at all and Cole is most like the only one who could manage Truth. Drynn needs to find his courage and find a way to heal the elves that have been forced to become Drow. This book has left me with so many questions and the answers can only be found in book 5.
