Things are finally looking up for Amelia Jones: She's officially a Mystwick student, and she even has a teacher to help her learn how to use her rare Composing magic. When Mystwick enters an international magic competition, it’s Amelia's chance to Compose something that will help them win the day. The only problem is that she still doesn’t understand how her powers work. But then she hears about a super exclusive Midnight Orchestra - half performance, half magical black market. But the Midnight Orchestra is far more sinister than it initially appears.

Just believe in yourself… UGH!
Revisado: 06-01-24
I got through the first story, but immediately into the second, it’s clear that the main chart needs to learn exactly the same lesson she supposedly learned already in the first book.
This book is falling back on tripes that I loathe… Don’t ask for help because you might get in trouble. Never mind the trouble you’re GUARANTEED to get into by not asking for help. Grrrr.
Just can’t get through this one.

It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Holier than thou main character
Revisado: 01-15-24
Wanted to like this book so much more than I actually could. The MC kept getting in the way. Just when you could relax into the fun, he’d go on another rant about elitism, Gods, or some other nonsense for a RPGLIT book. Dude… it’s supposed to be fun. If I wanted a political/philosophy book, I could’ve found thousands of titles that would be smarter and more consistent in their messaging. The MC was unbelievably hypocritical. But enough. sigh. So disappointed.

Historia
Once upon a time, in the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop. Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel's the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule.

Felt so much like a bunch of high school friends doing a drama class production
Revisado: 10-21-23
I love Felicia and crew. But, ugh. The script needed serious editing. It felt so much like a bunch of teens just got together on the weekend to do their final semester project for drama class and ad libbed it.
The cheesy tropes and “well gee” “oh what?” and “oh hey” dialogue lines were so cringe worthy.
Love their voice acting but the script was amateurish.

I have exactly 5 hours and 10 minutes to get from Boston to New York City or the professional opportunity of a lifetime disappears. My only travel option? The second to last seat on a discount bus. Across from the bathroom. Wearing last night’s clothes (don’t ask). All worth it if I can make it in time.

I wish there was a video of these main narrators voicing this. I would love to see the faces just to see if they matched with the amazing voice acting. This story was so heartwarming and lovable. Thank you for this gem.

When a home aide arrives to assist a rambunctious family at a crossroads, simmering tensions boil over in this “witty, exuberant debut” (People) that is an “absolute delight from start to finish” (Sarah Haywood, New York Times best-selling author) perfect for fans of Where’d You Go, Bernadette and Evvie Drake Starts Over.

A Feel good?!? Really?!?
Revisado: 01-28-22
So… 98% of this book is like watching a slow motion car wreck. People ruining their lives all over the place. Yes- it has a happy ending. But as a lover and seeker of true feel good, uplifting stories, it was a slog to get to any good parts with this book. If you’re looking for true feel good books, try Carolyn Brown.
Overall, a decent story and narrator but it wasn’t what I was promised.

Historia
Greg Donahue’s The Minuteman, tells the story of one of Newark’s native sons; ex-prizefighter and longtime Zwillman enforcer Sidney Abramowitz, a.k.a. Nat Arno, who took over leadership of the Minutemen in 1934 and made it his personal business to put an end to what he saw as the Bund’s “anti-American” activities. For six years, Arno and his crew of vigilantes battled Newark’s Nazis at every turn. The Minuteman is a story of the ethics of violence in the face of fascism; a forgotten legacy that is as relevant now as it was nearly a hundred years ago.

Antifa is Facism
Revisado: 11-21-21
This book has it completely backwards. Comparing the fight against nazism to antifa is nuts. Antifa is increasingly anti-Semitic. Pay attention. It’s backwards nonsense like this that led to the rise of the Nazis in the first place. My advice re this book… Just don’t

Historia
Morrigan Crow is cursed. Having been born on Eventide, the unluckiest day for any child to be born, she's blamed for all local misfortunes, from hailstorms to heart attacks - and, worst of all, the curse means that Morrigan is doomed to die at midnight on her 11th birthday. But as Morrigan awaits her fate, a strange and remarkable man named Jupiter North appears. Chased by black-smoke hounds and shadowy hunters on horseback, he whisks her away into the safety of a secret, magical city called Nevermoor.

Loved, Loved, Loved!
Revisado: 08-28-18
From the first sentence, this book’s author and narrator were pure joy. I loved the world that the author created for Morrigan, the main character. The narrator masterfully voiced characters, giving life to the wonderful (pardon the pun) characters. I can’t wait to get my ears in the next installment.

Historia
Greg Papilio both wants and dreads his impending metamorphosis. He's tired of being an ugly runt - always picked last on the basketball court - when he could be strong and what girls call "drop dead gorgeous". But as much as he looks forward to the transformation, he also fears the caste it will inevitably assign to him. He doesn't want a common caste. He wants a powerful one, a cool one. Samantha Gibson is average. She's short and a little full around the hips - a terribly cute look for a future chef.

UGH! Great story but horrible narrator
Revisado: 08-21-18
I suffered through... this narrator’s very... annoying and useless... pauses because I really... liked the story.
This narrator’s style is much more appropriate for giving voice to instruction manuals - NOT fiction. Sorry, but she’s awful. Her pauses in the middle of sentences make no sense. She is so overly dramatic in voice to the point that nothing is then dramatic.
The only way I tolerated her narrative at all was to speed her up. I listened to the entire book on 1.5 to 2.0 speed.
Get a... new narrator... Please.

Historia
Introducing The Enchanted Files! Told in diary entries and other “documents”, this magical, modern-day new comedy series by the master of funny fantasy, Bruce Coville is filled with laugh-out-loud humor and heart. In the first hilarious Enchanted Files, Angus is a brownie. No, not the kind you eat! He’s a tiny magical creature that loves to do chores. Angus has just “inherited” a new human girl, Alex. To say that Alex is messy would be an understatement. She’s a total hurricane-like disaster - and she likes it that way, thankyouverymuch!

A Laugh Out Loud Brownie Treat!!
Revisado: 10-21-17
The narrator’s hilarious interpretation of the brownie’s indignation throughout this tale was utterly brilliant. I re-listened to chapters a few times simply for the pleasure of laughing again.
Here’s to hoping that the next two books in the series are even half as delightful.
