Historia
After 9/11, the United States made one of the most secretive and dangerous deals in its history. The evidence against the powerful Saudis who coordinated the attack would be buried. In return, King Faisal would promise to keep the oil flowing and deal with the conspirators in his midst. When the king's own nephew is discovered funding ISIS, the president suspects that the Saudis never intended to live up to their agreement.

I like Scott Brick
Revisado: 01-16-18
What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?
I may be a lonely voice, but I enjoyed Scott Brick's reading of this book. Like many others I became used to hearing George Guidall reading Mitch Rapp and I was somewhat disappointed when I started listening to this book However, Scott Brick is one of my favorite readers and after about 20 minutes, I got into his reading and enjoyed it a great deal.
Any additional comments?
Almost, but not quite as good as Vince Flynn. Mitch's team reminded me a little of the "Dirty Dozen". Mitch Rapp is still the best. Very enjoyable book.

A blisteringly paced tale of one family's struggle to stay together in the face of the most terrifying psychotic killer to haunt a novel in some time, Mr. Murder is one of Dean Koontz's most harrowing, thought-provoking stories.

Fascinating and Frightening
Revisado: 12-21-05
A great story with a very frightening character in Alfie. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I enjoyed Koontz's rather long and detailed descriptions, and the formal, advanced vocabulary. I even learned a few new words. The multiple threads put the reader into the middle of the action, but don't make it difficult to follow. The narrator is one of the best I've heard. Highly recommended if you like it weird.

Historia
In Los Angeles in 1988, a 16-year-old girl disappeared from her home and was later found dead of a gunshot wound to the chest. The death appeared at first to be a suicide, but some of the evidence contradicted that scenario, and detectives came to believe this was in fact a murder. Despite a by-the-book investigation, no one was ever charged.

Bosch is getting old.
Revisado: 08-23-05
A good book if you like murder mysteries, but be advised that most of the story is interviewing witnesses, searching for clues, and developing theories. There is almost no action. Think of it as a mental exercise in "Who Done It?" I prefer the previous wilder and crazier Harry. For example, I enjoyed "The Narrows" and "City of Bones" more. "The Closers" was interesting, but a little dull at times.

Once again Michael Crichton gives us his trademark combination of page-turning suspense, cutting-edge technology, and extraordinary research. State of Fear is a superb blend of edge-of-your-seat suspense and thought provoking commentary on how information is manipulated in the modern world.

Fair and Balanced
Revisado: 03-16-05
After reading this book, you'll never think about "global warming" the same again. Crichton has done his homework and he presents a view of the global warming theory that is different from the usual scripted drivel preached by the environmental extremists and parroted back by the mainstream media. As a fellow physician, I agree with Crichton that our opinions should be based on facts and evidence, not pop culture. Although self righteous and self proclaimed "environmentalists" will squeal, those of you who want to hear both sides of the issue will appreciate this book.
That said, Crichton's characters aren't really well developed and I didn't feel involved with them as people. I didn't much care what happened to them in the end. I had the same impression of "Prey"--technically fascinating, but not much human interest. Nevertheless, I gave this book a "5" because of the facts Crichton contributes to the global warming controversy. Read it and decide for yourself.

Best Connelly So Far
Revisado: 01-27-05
Great new story about an old villain. Nice balance among story line, character development, action, mystery, suspense, and violence. Varied settings include Vegas, California coast, LA, and the desert. I've read lots of Connelly and this is the best so far. Buy it.

Hard To Swallow
Revisado: 04-20-04
The plot is completely implausible, the portrayal of life in a big corporation is a wild caricature, the lead chacacter is a shallow, dishonest underacheiver, and most of the other characters are unpleasant or downright nasty. Downbeat and cynical, but moderately entertaining if you don't mind being a little depressed by its portrayal of the darker side of human nature.

Historia
"If Robert Littell didn't invent the American spy novel," says Tom Clancy, "he should have." In this spectacular Cold-War-as-Alice-in-Wonderland epic, Littell, "the American le Carre," takes us down the rabbit hole and into the labyrinthine world of espionage that has been the CIA for the last half-century. "Ostensibly a single novel, The Company can also be listened to as an anthology of cracking good spy stories," says ( Publishers Weekly).

One of the best I've purchased from Audible
Revisado: 03-29-04
I thoroughly enjoyed this work. Even after 40 hours, I wanted more. The inner workings of the CIA were fascinating and often spellbinding. I especially enjoyed the "historical fiction" accounts of famous spies, the Russian invasion of Hugary, the Bay of Pigs, the attempted Castro assasination, andthe JFK/Mafia connection.

Historia
Return to James Lee Burke's "timeless, parallel universe" with detective Dave Robicheaux, as he investigates the murders of two women, tries to prove one man's innocence, and faces an enemy unlike any he has ever known. Gothic, dense, brutal, touching, and always compelling, Jolie Blon's Bounce is classic storytelling from a writer who has been dubbed "the Faulkner of crime fiction."
