Historia
Pru Parke always dreamed of living in England. And after the Dallas native follows an impulse and moves to London, she can't imagine ever leaving - though she has yet to find a plum position as a head gardener. Now, as the sublet on her flat nears its end, the threat of forced departure looms.

Character is an idiot
Revisado: 08-20-24
I really wanted to like this story. Like gardening, liked the main character at first. Then she started acting like an irrational idiot, stomping all over the crime scene (again), getting angry at the detective because he dared investigate people she didn’t even hardly know, etc, etc. Not giving the police a key piece of info “because she didn’t get around to it”. I realize that authors need to create issues to add drama to a plot, however there were way too many in a row.
Now I don’t give a darn about her because she’s an annoying idiot. Wanted to return book (probably have only returned 3 in a decade) and get money back but audible/amazon changed its policy and won’t refund extra books bought with cash not credits. This should stop me from purchasing anything again.

Historia
Erin Coleridge's used bookstore in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, England, is a meeting place for the villagers and, in particular, for the local Jane Austen Society. At the Society's monthly meeting, matters come to a head between the old guard and its young turks. After the meeting breaks for tea, persuasion gives way to murder with extreme prejudice when president Sylvia Pemberthy falls dead to the floor. Poisoned? Presumably, but by whom? And was Sylvia the only target?

Narrator not to my taste
Revisado: 07-19-24
I found the sing-song rhythm (only description I can think of) of the narrator annoying. Seemed affected to me. I will avoid them in future so will probably not continue this series.

Historia
As much as Beatrice Hyde-Clare relished the challenge of figuring out who murdered a fellow guest during a house party in the Lake District, she certainly does not consider herself an amateur investigator. So when a London dandy falls dead at her feet in the entryway of a London Daily Gazette, she feels no compulsion to investigate. It was a newspaper office, after all, and reporters are already on the case as are the authorities.

Last of this series for me!
Revisado: 11-06-19
About all I can stand. 2nd book in series I have listened to. Main character spends 3/4 of the book thinking about her tedious thoughts. Expect author will string out same formula for another dozen books. Does he love me? Does he not? I’m a poor down trodden wretch. Blah, blah, blah.
