This was assigned reading for a grief support specialist class I am participating in. I wish I would have read it years ago. I think I thought it was a negative rap in God. But far from it, the author makes his case in a very faith-rich fashion. I recommend for anyone suffering or wishing to come alongside sufferers.

Horrible
- De I do not like this book at all. It is demonic and sexual. Not at all like the lovely Dorsetville books. No, I don’t like to be scared. No, I don’t want to read about demon possession. No, I don’t want to be scared. No, I do not recommend this book. en 11-09-23

Simply different for series fans
Revisado: 02-18-25
I bought this because it had such terrible reviews. So bad, I wondered if they we're being fair. In my humble opinion, they were not. The real problem is not that the book is terrible, it is not. Its that we fans oppose change. This book must be taken, not as part of a series, but in its own. It has a different narrator & no longer a male narrator. But the narrator is good. As the title suggests, the book involves experiences people encounter with demons that have haunted a rectory. What I listened to did not seem overtly sexual in nature. But the time if this book does take a different venue. I did not find it too scary but I also did not fund it is interest. And, I think that's the problem. Fans if this author \ narrator really like the first 2 installments. We are not, as a rule, people who switch up and listen to demonic subject matter. For what it is, the book has something to offer though. Just not for me, I will be returning it, and I must add, I did not finish due to lack of a sense the book was going anywhere. I felt the characters were not ( at that point), interesting or well developed. I do have to agree with one reviewer who wondered if this was indeed, the same author? I think it is, just with less interest ing characters.

Must read for the weary, downhearted or bereaved,
Revisado: 12-21-24
This book has been such a goldmine to be mined. I listen time & again letting her words soak into the broken places.
I've been widowed twice and in my 70s uprooted & moved 1500 miles to be near my son & his family. I suffer long-standing PTSD & was unprepared for how impactful so much change would prove to be. Nor was i aware of all the continued healing required in my grief & ensuing loneliness. So I have been doing a lot of reading. I came across this book and it has been such an encouragement. Nancy Guthrie has a way of articulating the cry of the heart. I highly recommend.

Would be much better with a professional narrator
Revisado: 10-28-24
I like Harris Faulkner as an anchor, but I have to work my brain around Harris' narration in order to profit from this book and I'm not certain I will hang in there, though I want to. The mens' voices are the weakest, but just overall, it's problematic. I think its the modulation. Otherwise, good stories. There are times when I'm surprised that reviews do not mention bad narration in an Audible book. Narration is a big part of the equation. There are authors that do a good job, and those that I think might be trying to save money on a project. Or maybe, with Audible, the publishers might choose someone worse. That's possible, I've heard some that need a new line of work. Overall, the stories are fresh & uplifting and if you can work past the narration, or maybe even like it, its a worthwhile book.

Good Story, great narration.
Revisado: 07-24-24
This was my second time listening. There are a handful of cuss words sprinkled throughout, so, for me, who tries to avoid, it was not overwhelming. It is not overdone or gratuitous. The plot definitely thickens. Characters are well developed & stay in realistic character.

So Much godly Wisdom
Revisado: 07-12-24
Finding myself twice widowed and struggling with loneliness, I selected this book. God has used the journey of the last 2 & 1/2 years to teach & instill many truths deep down. But still, I struggle, chaffing against aloneness that has morphed into loneliness. This book offers a great deal of practical advice & hope to claim Gods best for this season.
I'm sure I will read it again & again, hoping to secure a new mindset & heart attitude in this time. I particularly liked the down-to-earth, real life addressing of concerns peculiar to divorce & widowhood. I appreciated how she stated that we can find ourselves lonely even in different situations in life. I liked her chapter on solitude. Its a valuable, well written, beautifully narrated book. I highly recommend it.

Revisado: 02-19-24
I am thoroughly enjoying these books. Just enough mystery & silliness. I am a fan of dog's personalities being presented in the books that I read. I am a fan of career- changed Rex & his also retired human, Albert.
