Historia
Through no fault of his own, Joe’s life was starting on a downward spiral. Bad things can happen to good people, but this is not much comfort for those who are treading water, trying not to be drowned by misfortune. Luckily, sometimes people can catch a break, a chance to start over. When he's transported to an alternate Earth full of magic, wonder, and light RPG elements, Joe just wants to build a comfortable life. He begins to put down roots and make friends in the port city of Lockwood.

Good but simple
Revisado: 08-08-23
Refreshing low stakes story. No rising or falling action no major plot points. It’s a story about a pushover guy getting thrown into a new world with the goal of existing. MC kind of worthless, but that’s ok because there’s literally nothing driving the story other than him doing menial task for other people. As a listener I felt no attachment to any of the characters, and felt no investment in their successes or failures. Narrator did a fantastic job, and authors did something right seeing as to how I finished it. It’s a decent pickup for a credit if you have exhausted the rest of your isekai wishlist.

Historia
Draysky was born to die on the ridge. Like his father before him, his fate was to harvest elemental treasures until the dust claimed his lungs. As the lowest of society, a Knotted, the thin cord around his neck signifies to all his low rank. He would never progress as a mage, nor learn of the forbidden runes of the kingdom magicians.

Good story-extremely distracting narration
Revisado: 07-07-23
I get trying to add to the story with music and sounds, but most of it sounds like the narrator is eating a bag of chips against the microphone. Makes the story had to focus on when you are trying to figure out what that random noise is. If out of stuff to listen to worth the credit.

Historia
Those in power do not believe in the possibility of triumph against the will of the gods, and instead squander their time and effort in indulging their needs and desires as the world quickly rots away around them. Mankind’s only hope rests on the shoulders of a man they hate the most. A man who has taken every possible measure, both accepted and forbidden, to attain power. Sungchul Kim, the man who reached the pinnacle of strength, now stands alone against the Calamities. Not because he is a hero, but because of a promise.

Hands down best LitRPG on Audible. Brilliant story paired with brilliant narration.
Revisado: 02-09-23
This is likely the best LitRPG on Audible, no harem, no whining, and (most importantly) a MC that you don’t secretly kind of hate. If you are looking for a trope ridden coming of age story stay far away, if on the other hand you are looking for a good story and fun listen pick this up. Nick Podehl does a fantastic job, as always, in immersing you in the story. I’ve listened to it 3 times (before sequels that. Take far too long) and it gets better each time. Get this booo!

Refreshing Lit RPG without the angst
Revisado: 11-02-22
LITRPG/XIANXIA on audible has started to get rather trite-MC comes of age and wins a tournament or MC is angsty and escapes to VR. This was refreshing, no system integration or mentally ill MC repeating mantras from their therapist, just straight up reincarnation (with all memories intact) into a magical world. Narration and production well done without any distracting errors. I think Neil had excellent pacing and made it easy to identify each voice. Over all I will probably do it again. If you enjoyed Legend of the Archmagus, Reincarnated as a Farmer, or the Turtleme series you’ll want to pick this up.

Historia
Accidentally murdered by a cleric in another universe during a botched resurrection, Arnold, a semi-pro gamer, wakes upon an altar to find himself incarnated into the overweight body of a farmer who could have been his fatter twin. He’s not the hero. He’s not the villain. He’s certainly not the chosen one who is there to save the world. He’s a clerical error. It could be a bad joke, but apparently, it happens so often that they have a standard procedure for returning you.

Refreshing. The best of litrpg mechanics with none of the angsty bullied protagonist. The MC is a regular dude doing the best he can, with what he’s got. Definitely worth a listen.

Enjoyable but...
Revisado: 12-12-19
First off props to author and narrator, I admire the effort and skill they both displayed in writing and performing respectively.
Spoilers: The reason I’m giving 3 stars is due to how little I truly cared about the outcome of the story. It is almost like the author was trying to see how far plot armor could be pushed. MC Attacked at his house-impenetrable barrier, can’t speak the language-no worries here’s a princess to do it and etc. it also seems like the author decided to change the story halfway through writing it. The prologue and first half of the story build towards a real gritty and epic family struggle only to cop out at the last minute using plot armor. I get not killing humans, but crying over killing the most horrible monsters the MC has ever seen that are trying to kill him, and take his house. I mean come on.
Narration was good, but didn’t really bring much life to the characters or story. Also only game lit in that he could see and interact with his “dungeon” on his phone.

Good but wouldn't do it again
Revisado: 02-21-16
Excellent writing, but surpassingly trite story. The author seems to doubt himself, each character always takes the safest path, or takes an extremely unlikely path, based on hours of character development, for simple convenience of story. This book has all the elements of epic fantasy but the story lacks depth and ambition. The ending is written like the author isn't convinced that the story should be continued, that plus the narrator sounding like he is talking down to you makes me give this otherwise excellent fantasy novel 3 stars.
