Short & sweet
Revisado: 01-19-25
An insider’s perspective on one of my lifetime’s most important cultural times. I gained new insights to the 60s & 70s. I also learned a lot about singing and recording. Thanks, Linda.

Historia
From 1934 to 1954, Bing Crosby utterly dominated American entertainment. Nobody has ever had as many hit records, and Crosby was the number one movie star for five years in a row. The rise of Bing Crosby was the rise of American popular culture itself.

Lot of tech talk
Revisado: 01-14-25
Good biography. The author analyzes every recording. There is technical talk galore. That’s what fills the 18 hours.

Historia
To the wider world, Al Pacino exploded onto the scene like a supernova. He landed his first leading role, in The Panic in Needle Park, in 1971, and by 1975, he had starred in four movies—The Godfather and The Godfather Part II, Serpico, and Dog Day Afternoon—that were not just successes but landmarks in the history of film. Those performances became legendary and changed his life forever. Not since Marlon Brando and James Dean in the late 1950s had an actor landed in the culture with such force.

Like family
Revisado: 11-05-24
Listening to Al tell his story was familial. I felt like I was sitting around with my brother, listening to him tell anecdotes. I have never heard an audiobook like this. Thanks, man.

Historia
As news broke of a killer rampaging across the tiny community of Portapique, Nova Scotia, late on April 18, 2020, details were oddly hard to come by. Who was the killer? Why was he not apprehended? What were police doing? How many were dead? And why was the gunman still on the loose the next morning and killing again? The RCMP was largely silent then, and continued to obscure the actions of denturist Gabriel Wortman after an officer shot and killed him at a gas station during a chance encounter.

Boring
Revisado: 09-09-24
Unless you have an interest in the Canadian police structure and function, I don’t recommend this book.

Too much inflection , not enough heart
Revisado: 11-01-16
The narrator has way too much inflection in his voice; he covers a full octave. As good as it was to hear Red Skelton's factual story, I felt that much of what made him a giant among men was left out.

Just what I needed!
Revisado: 07-04-15
Just what I needed. I laughed out loud at times. The thought-provoking material is so well presented. The way he arrives at simple conclusions, I felt like I was along for the ride. Glad I found this little gem.
