Very interesting!
Revisado: 02-18-25
I like the real-world questions, and I appreciate how complex answers were presented in an easy-to-understand way. Just the right amount of humor.

Historia
Is it just me? Or are all relationships complicated? I feel a little bit like it might just be me. Because I seem to be the common denominator in every one of my f--ked-up relationships. The only relationship I have that’s not f--ked up is with my octogenarian sidekick, Al. Although even his loyalty has come into question a time or two - like when he tried to turn in his two-weeks' notice and I was forced to remind him that he can’t quit a job he doesn’t have. And even if he could, then he wouldn’t get to hang out with me anymore.

Ugh! Ma!
Revisado: 06-24-24
This has been my least favorite in this series. Drunk’s mother irritated the HECK out of me. We all know Drunk was an actual police officer in the states, but here comes ma DEMANDING details of an on-going investigation, and, HE GIVES THEM TO HER! I very much dislike her character. On the flip side, this is one of the best narrations I’ve heard. Being able to capture the not so subtle nuances of an inebriated person is not easy, but he nails it! I laughed that entire bit.

Historia
Daniel T. Drunk, Jr. if you really wanna know. And I’m on a plane headed to Paradise Isle on the trip of a lifetime. The occasion? My honeymoon. Except, there’s only one problem. I’m riding solo. It’s a really long story, and if you don’t mind, I’d prefer to leave it at that. Really? You must know? Fine, I get it. You’re the nosey type. Here’s the abbreviated version. I came within an inch of marrying a cheating slut. There. Get the picture? Good.

Super funny!
Revisado: 03-10-24
I really liked the dialogue, it felt modern and relatable. The narrator did a good job with the voices, it was easy to keep track of characters. My only issue is that the ending didn’t make sense to me, there are so many more plausible scenarios, I’m not sure why the author chose this one. Off to book two!

Historia
This is the story of Dan—a high school dropout who plays guitar in a heavy metal band and has a minimum wage job wearing a mouse costume. He's not exactly destined for great things. Then Dan wakes up in another world—a world where science never progressed past the Middle Ages, and the laws of physics have been replaced by role-playing game rules. Dan makes some mistakes—some big mistakes. Dan becomes a Death Knight: a walking personification of death and darkness. Now, Dan must fight monsters, zealots, and demons just to survive, and he must do it all alone.

So many questions!
Revisado: 11-23-23
I chose this book because it is read by my favorite narrator, Phil Thron. The story left me with many many questions, and I didn’t think the ending tied up many loose ends. That being said, once I got into the story I enjoyed it. Lots of action.

Amazeballs!

Not that I would expect anything less from my favorite podcast co-host, but I was surprised at how involved I got in the characters. The narration was perfect, I loved the two different narrators taking on each chapter as one of the main characters. There were several nods to actual true crime stories which lent an air of believability. Great story.

Even better!
Revisado: 07-19-19
I’m not normally a fan of sequels. After the initial story, usually the luster has worn off and the writing becomes lazy. Not this time. I thought the first book was entertaining. This one blew it out of the water! I understand that this book may not withstand the test of time due to all the current cultural references, but for me, hearing this at this exact time, is a perfect combination of story and culture colliding.

Most entertaining book this year!
Revisado: 07-17-19
I enjoyed every minute of this performance! The voice actor is amazing, and the writing is engaging. There were several references to current events, which helped me become immersed in the story. The tale is laid out in a way that is so comprehensive, there was never a question about what was going on or who a character was. I’ve already purchased book two!
