Historia
Joyce Meyer has a knack for coining phrases - her fans call them "Joyceisms" - and one of her best loved is "Where the mind goes, the man follows."This was the basis for Battlefield of the Mind, and in her latest book, Meyer provides "power thoughts," bringing the reader to a new level of ability to use the mind as a tool to achievement. In Power Thoughts, she outlines a flexible program to turn thoughts into habits, and habits into success. Nobody has more of a "can-do" attitude than Joyce Meyer. Now you can, too.

Biblical story with a different perspective
Revisado: 01-25-25
This is one of my favorite authors. She has such a beautiful way of bringing people in the Bible to life. She creates stories with just every day events and depicts activities of life that give amazing depth to her characters. She remains true to scriptures and never takes such broad creative license that the characters and story becomes bizarre. There are sprinkles of verses in her novels that you can look up. And believe me these novels will spark an interest in reading the Bible even if just to check something out. I’ve never really thought much about Michal, daughter of King Saul, David’s first wife. This novel puts different intriguing perspectives of looking at her and how she might have been. All in all a very enjoyable book.

The story of Rahab
Revisado: 01-21-25
This book by Jill Eileen Smith is fabulous many people have written about Rahab, the prostitute of Jericho, who was the mother of Boaz in the line of the genealogy of Jesus. The author looks at why was Rahab a prostitute? What kind of man would want to marry a prostitute was it because of her courage to help the Israelite spies was it that being a prostitute and Jericho wasn’t a shameful thing and how did she handle going from a pagan in Jericho to learning and adhering to the laws of the god of the Israelites and becoming a convert herself what would’ve been like for her Before she married Salmon, dealing with the other Israelites in the camp with women rejecting her or shunning her for being from Jericho. Jill Eileen Smith weaves so much into her stories and gives us a different way of looking at characters from the Bible that we know very little about because there are so few scriptures about them.. This author uses exceptional research skills into the archaeology and anthropology of the people’s at these times in history. Listening to these books in Audible with little snippets of scripture every so often is pleasant and builds your faith in knowing that God loves us and has a plan for our lives. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is the god who is the father of Jesus, the Messiah. Listening to these books is pleasant because the voice of the narrator is very soothing and pleasant. It’s easy to listen to these books to drift off to sleep and then have to go back and listen again in the daytime because you fell asleep to it.. I recommend any of the works of Jill Eileen Smith to anyone..

Outspoken and fearless, Deborah has faith in God but struggles to see the potential her own life holds. As an Israelite woman, she'll marry, have a family, and seek to teach her children about Adonai - and those tasks seem to be more than enough to occupy her time. But God has another plan for her. Israel has been under the near constant terror of Canaan's armies for 20 years, and now God has called Deborah to deliver her people from this oppression. Will her family understand?

The prophetess is exceptionally good
Revisado: 01-21-25
Jill Eileen Smith is a talented author. She does thorough research into her books. She does exceptional background research into the anthropology of the time periods that she writes about. The Prophetess it’s about Deborah one of the judges of Israel in ancient times. Jill Eileen Smith fleshes out the characters of her books using scriptures as a basis for her stories. Reading her works, makes the Bible come alive.. And she inserts small snippets of scriptures every so often which just enrich her books. So far I love all of her works. It’s a joy to listen to her books in audible.

Beautiful story based on Bible
Revisado: 01-21-25
Absolutely beautiful telling of the story of Esther and king Xerxes. This author has a lovely way of elaborating on very few scriptures to create a complete story with colorful characters and accurate research based on the actual times of the occurrences. I just love this author’s work. All of her books based on the Bible have scriptures scattered throughout that affirm the authenticity as well as her exceptionally thorough research into the archaeology and anthropology. I recommend all of her books!

Hannah and her husband, Elkanah, share a deep and abiding love, for each other, for their God, and for his tabernacle at Shiloh. Greatly disturbed by the corruption of the priests, they long for restoration and pray for a deliverer. But nothing changes as the years pass. Years that also reveal Hannah to be barren. Pressured by his family to take another wife, Elkanah marries Peninnah, who quickly begins to bear children. Disgraced and taunted by her husband's new wife, Hannah turns again to prayers that seem doomed to go unanswered.

Different view of women of the Bible
Revisado: 01-15-25
I really enjoy All of these audiobooks that I’m listening to by this author. She takes very few scriptures and fleshes out biblical characters in a way that would be culturally and anthropologically, correct. Through listening to the stories of this author,,, you find yourself going to scriptures and reading them and spending time with the Lord. I love reading these kind of books that give us a closeness and a kinship to the different people that lived in the biblical times.

Sarai was a child of ten years, wise for her age but not yet a woman, when she first met Abram. He appeared before her in her father's house, filthy from the desert, tired and thirsty. But as the dirt of travel was washed from his body, the sight of him filled her heart. And when Abram promises Sarai to return in ten years to take her for his wife, her fate was sealed. Abram kept his promise, and Sarai kept hers. They were wed, and so joined the royal house of Ur with the high priesthood of the Hebrews. So began a lifetime of great joy together,

The kids becoming ambassadors
Revisado: 05-24-24
I’ve really enjoyed listening to all three of the books in this series. They’re really not just for kids. I’m a grandmother and I want to share this with my grandson who is 11 years old. The imagery of all the characters involved and the locations was fabulous. And the parallels and analogies comparing these characters to biblical truths wasn’t subtle, but it was perfect. I think these stories can be inspiring for anybody not just youth. This is a far better series than the chronicles of Narnia to me. The hideousness of evil, the enemy is described enough to allow your imagination to fill it in and not so much that it’s almost like a slap in the face. Again, exceptional writing. I strongly recommend this for any Christian family, especially if they have nine and 10 to 14-year-old boys.

Inspired story
Revisado: 05-22-24
The narrator was very impressive. I loved how they altered their voice to be speaking for each of the different characters. And the most notable thing that I had never noticed before was the narrator didn’t have a strong New York accent. That had never been an issue until my previous book that I was listening to, and I love the book and the content, but I can’t listen to it because of the person‘s very strong New York accent. This book is fabulous.

What would it be like for modern listeners to sit down beside Jesus as he explained the Bible to them? What life-changing insights might emerge from such a transformative encounter? Lois Tverberg knows the treasures that await listeners willing to learn how to see the Bible through Jewish eyes. By helping them understand the Bible as Jesus and his first-century listeners would have, she bridges the gaps of time and culture in order to open the Bible to listeners today.

This is my third book by this author. I find that she does excellent research and provides such incredible depth and imagery. If you wanna understand the biblical times of Jesus of the Jewish culture during the first century A.D. and understand the scriptures that Jesus would’ve read this is the best of Thor I’ve ever found. I recommend this and all other books by her.
