Historia
Morrigan Crow is cursed. Having been born on Eventide, the unluckiest day for any child to be born, she's blamed for all local misfortunes, from hailstorms to heart attacks - and, worst of all, the curse means that Morrigan is doomed to die at midnight on her 11th birthday. But as Morrigan awaits her fate, a strange and remarkable man named Jupiter North appears. Chased by black-smoke hounds and shadowy hunters on horseback, he whisks her away into the safety of a secret, magical city called Nevermoor.

2.5x Speed Just To Get It Over With
Revisado: 10-17-22
Cheap like a high school level gossip magazine article. Utterly predictable. Wondered after that first blatant clue what the point of dragging it on was, thinking there MUST be a twist to justify continuing the story. Sped all the way through to the end to find out there wasn't. Did enjoy the handful of commentaries toward the children's pysch POV.

The Ending A Pleasant Surprise

Not terribly suspenseful but still a page turner. Some parts obvious but I enjoyed where it went and what it explored about long term relationships and their evolutions.

Suspension Of Disbelief Demand Is Too High
Revisado: 10-08-22
Not a page-turner for me. Annoying that the story pretends to be about diving into marriage psychology, but is so clearly one long BDSM trip into a kinky sex club. Not that the two can't be the same, but I prefer to be in the mood for the story I'm getting into, and that's not possible when the description and even the story aren't honest about what they're offering.
These characters supposedly dislike what's happening to them but are all too willing to stay engaged at every turn and even return again and again. Once their cooperation exceeded all reasonable limits, I could not longer believe in the characters or trajectory and it all felt like a contrived excuse for voyeurism.
I appreciate stories that examine the unfolding complexities in long term relationships, and this had enough to keep me just barely hanging on, but it had a far more lingering gaze on the kink.

Enjoyable Like A TV Episode
Revisado: 10-04-22
I guess with its short story length it can't do anything astounding, but the first hint at the reveal was so blatant I figured it had to be a decoy twist and then it wasn't. Fine enough for a couple hours but nothing really gripping happened in the eventual unfolding of it.

Historia
Join the conversation as a father and son talk about pursuing beauty, dealing with money, getting married, chasing dreams, knowing something real with God, and how to find a life you can call your own. Killing Lions is more than fatherly advice. It is an invitation into a journey: either to be the son who receives fathering or the father who learns what must be spoken. Most important, these conversations speak to a searching generation: "You are not alone. Its not all up to you. You are going to find your way."

Historia
A Great Winged One will soon arise and cast his fearsome shadow upon the land. And just as Night slays Day, and Day slays Night, so also shall another Black Witch rise to meet him, her powers vast beyond imagining. So foretells the greatest prophecy of the Gardnerian mages. Carnissa Gardner, the last prophesied Black Witch, drove back the enemy forces and saved her people during the Realm War. Now a new evil is on the horizon, and her granddaughter, Elloren, is believed to be Carnissa's heir—but utterly devoid of power in a society that prizes magical ability above nearly all else.

Unfortunately, for me it was unbearable formulaic drivel. I had been interested by the plot summary, but eventually realized the plot was simply a skeleton to prop up this thick and drowsy melodrama.

Revisado: 09-29-19
This book opens up a world of consideration through something so little considered and so taken for granted. It adds quality and complexity to the lens of "eco-consciousness" and real sustainability. I'm grateful Robin is a keeper, and sharer, of rich knowledge of life on this level.

Historia
There's a silent epidemic in Western civilization, and it is right under our noses. Our jaws are getting smaller and our teeth crooked and crowded, creating not only aesthetic challenges but also difficulties with breathing. Sandra Kahn and Paul R. Ehrlich, a pioneering orthodontist and a world-renowned evolutionist, respectively, present the biological, dietary, and cultural changes that have driven us toward this major health challenge. They propose simple adjustments that can alleviate this developing crisis.

These Should Be The Basics
Revisado: 09-28-19
Just like so many areas of health "care" (health "repair" as the book suggests), we've got foundational understanding twisted and thrown physiology by the wayside. It's so easy to understand as it's laid out herein, why don't we just learn these as basics in the first place if we're to be taught anything at all about oral care growing up.
