Love conquers
Revisado: 12-16-24
This book made me smile and made me tear up. The author captured so well the challenges of an imperfect life and how just one person loving you can establish a foundation from which you can grow.
It was delightful hearing the story in the author’s voice, she knows the characters and thus you get a truly accurate picture.

Like folks you’ve known, stories you’ve heard.
Revisado: 12-11-24
I appreciated the storyline and how the characters come across as people you could have known in your neighborhood Bible study group. I enjoyed the interactions and relationships between the generations. There was also a comfortable balance between sadness and joy.
The only thing I didn’t care for in this book was the auditory portion. “Bless her heart” for trying, but I found the narrator’s rendition of the older women quite grating. It was like animated mice in a cartoon. The male voices were just plain uncomfortable.
If a listener can get past the auditory, or isn’t bothered by it, I highly recommend this book.

Silly
Revisado: 11-15-24
This wasn’t the worst, however I’d think it would only appeal to a teen. It should be advertised as a young romance novel. I’d leave off saying it’s humorous as it wasn’t. It was a recommended book based on another selection I’d finished. The other was a humorous book, but had a mystery twist and characters in my age range.
The auditory sounded a bit automated.

Historia
Gospel comedy queen Pat G'orge-Walker regales listeners with the hilarious antics of Sister Betty and her South Carolina friends, big-hearted Ma Cile and redhaired Sister Connie Fuse. But things don't really start shakin' until on-the-make Deacon Laid Handz, manhungry Sister Carrie Onn, and conniving Reverend Knott Enuff Money get into the act. And yet for all of its rollicking humor, this book is brimming with profound and, at times, pointed truths about church life.

Funny and Pointed
Revisado: 11-10-23
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this story. The characters and their names were hysterical. Laughter with a lesson isn’t easy and Pat G’orge-Walker nailed it! I am usually not too impressed with the narrators, but Ms. Mitchell could win an award in my opinion.
Thank you.

A wonderful story of redemption and forgiveness
Revisado: 10-30-23
I wouldn’t search out a book about animals, but I so enjoyed the Dorothy Dearest series by Ms. Baumbich, I gave it a try. I’m glad I did. I thought it was well written. It even gave me reflection on painful childhood issues and how God’s love and forgiveness enables us to also forgive and reconcile. It had a touch of drama with the snow globe. Who knows?! I found this audible well worth the listen. Thank you!

Delightful pastime
Revisado: 09-28-23
I enjoyed this first book enough to move on to book 2. I found the characters engaging and want to know more of their story. Reading is for information, edification or entertainment… a series like this is, of course, for the latter and it did it’s job admirably. Ms. Baumbich’s storytelling style amuses, comforts and encourages hope. Her characters have the depth of real life. These are like people you know or wish you knew.
