Historia
Big City is supposedly the place where dreams come true. As someone just trying to live my life, I can tell you it’s more like a recurring nightmare where dreams get c*ckblocked at every turn. Especially if you’re a supervillain like me. The irony is that I have zero powers, despite coming from purebred villain stock, but try telling that to Big City’s beloved hero, Captain Masculine.

Deliciously Satisfying!
Revisado: 11-17-23
If you're into the superhero genre -- or the romance genre -- and/or the opposites attract/happy endings genre... then, you'll probably enjoy this! Like Xander, the prospect of having to wait for the next audiobook in this series to finally drop fills me with murderous frustration!

Historia
Meet Nosewise. He's spunky. He's curious. And he's a dog who can't understand why his packmates Merlin and Morgana spend all day practicing magic tricks. If it's a trick they want, he's the dog to ask! He can already Sit!, Stay!, and Roll Over! But there's no way Nosewise is Stay!ing when his master and best friend, Merlin, is kidnapped. There's nothing Nosewise won't do to get Merlin back, even if it means facing the strange Fae people and their magic-eating worms or tangling with the mysterious Sword in the Stone.

A pleasant respite from dark magic tales
Revisado: 08-29-23
Uncomplicated and unpretentious spin on the Legend of King Arthur and Camelot. Suitable and entertaining enough for kids AND adults. I especially like how main characters are realistically rendered. This was a nice, brief break from the hyper-realistic superhero/supernatural fare I usually gravitate towards. Recommend!

Historia
Jack Diller is just one more struggling actor on the road to nowhere. He’s got an agent who barely remembers his name, his ex-girlfriend has hooked up with a Silicon Valley dude, and the milk in his fridge is so far past its sell-by date it’s historic. The only way Jack can scrape together a bare existence is by delivering food to exactly the types of successful people he wishes he could be. Then, one day, a very strange audiobook shows up on his phone.

FUN!
Revisado: 12-28-22
This quick story is one wild ride! There are a couple of narrative holes, but not big ones. The story moves right along and wraps up quickly and logically. This is a good one to listen to between much longer stories when you need a little break with something short and sweet! I recommend.

Love this series so far, but...
Revisado: 07-15-22
The story arc is (blessedly!) stretching out, but with extended interims between floor episodes keeping track of all the characters, and their story lines, and the key conflicts being carried over from all the previous floors complicated the flow. I hope Matt will narrow the scope a little in the next installment - which I already can't wait for!

Historia
Being a fugitive in the Old West shouldn’t be this much fun. The year is 1860. Robby Riverton is a rising star on the New York stage. But he witnesses a murder by a famous crime boss and is forced to go on the run - all the way to Santa Fe. When he still can't seem to ditch his pursuers, he disguises himself as a mail-order bride he meets on the wagon train. Caught between gangsters who want to kill him and the crazy, uncouth family of his "intended", Robby's only ally is a lazy sheriff who sees exactly who Robby is.

Good one!
Revisado: 05-14-22
I wasn't sure if I'd like this story, but I did. The summary sounded intriguing, but implausible. The way initial conflict is laid out, and the way the following circumstances played out was reasonable enough. Accepting that a pretty male drama queen could masquerade as a believable female on a 19th Century working ranch gradually becomes easier. All the characters grow along the way. Plus, a happy ending? Very enjoyable winner!

Historia
Set in the wide-open spaces of the American West, The Power of the Dog is a stunning story of domestic tyranny, brutal masculinity, and thrilling defiance from one of the most powerful and distinctive voices in American literature. The novel tells the story of two brothers—one magnetic but cruel, the other gentle and quiet—and of the mother and son whose arrival on the brothers’ ranch shatters an already tenuous peace.

If you were at all impressed with Brokeback Mountain, or you like complex yet accessible psychological dramas, this is a must read. And, [SPOILER ALERT!] unlike Brokeback Mountain, the villain actually gets what he deserves in the end. How it happens is downright delicious...!

Historia
Isaac and David never thought they'd go back to the Amish world. But when Isaac's younger brother is stricken with cancer, they don't hesitate to return. Their relationship is on the rocks after insecurity and fear drove a wedge between them in San Francisco, and David is determined to make things right. Yet if they thought navigating "English" life was confusing, being back in Zebulon is even more complicated. Their families are desperate to bring them back into the fold, and pressure from the community builds.

Enjoyable trilogy!
Revisado: 08-04-21
Ignore the naysayers. Yes, the main characters' carnal knowledge and lustful abandon is a little questionable, but who's to know exactly how two, isolated, horny young men will behave? If you know little about the Amish and how they might respond to modern gayness, you'll learn something from this story as I did. The hopeful ending is an added plus! Get the trilogy!

The number of mispronounced words was astonishing! And, the total lack of inflection and cadence deprived the text of added meaning and impact. Do what I failed to do and listen to the sample... of a different presentation of this book!
