Historia
What happens when artificial intelligence saturates political life and depletes the planet? How is AI shaping our understanding of ourselves and our societies? Drawing on more than a decade of research, award-winning scholar Kate Crawford reveals how AI is a technology of extraction: from the minerals drawn from the earth, to the labor pulled from low-wage information workers, to the data taken from every action and expression. This book reveals how this planetary network is fueling a shift toward undemocratic governance and increased inequity.

good intro overall but from a liberal neo- Marxist point of view
Revisado: 08-07-24
I liked the book overall. But felt like there were too many points from a liberal neo-Marxist point of view. Topics such as colonialism, systemic racism, woke ideology, etc. are repeated often, as are the author's belief in the evils of conservatism and a belief in God. If the author has anything to do with it, covervatives and Christians should fear AI the most. The author does not offer a balanced point of view. Being a coservated Christian with an academic background and work experience with the AI systems mentioned in this book, I found it annoying and dishonest... a little propagandistic.

Historia
What is the history between the Old and New Testaments? Most people are not even aware there is such a gap. But there is: a 400-year gap. When the Old Testament leaves off, the Jews have just returned back from Babylonian captivity and the Persian Empire is in full swing. When Jesus enters the scene, it is 400 years later. The Persians are long gone, the Greeks have had their time, and now the Romans rule to roost. So what happened? Do we have any writings from this time? Could understanding this period of time help us understand the New Testament, the world of Jesus and the Apostles?

Great book, great reader, but hard to get past misspronunciation of names
Revisado: 02-03-24
The book is excellent and I highly recommend the printed version. The readers voice, speed, etc. are very good. But the pronunciation of Greek and Hebrew names is pretty bad and it is hard to get past this. You can tell who or where he is talking about because he pronounces them phonetically. But it is hard to pay attention when he says Joseph-us, Pee-Tolomy, Anti-auck-us, Sale-lek-e-us Pill-a-pay-ter, Sile-is-sea-dies that sort of thing. I hope this doesn't cause me to pronounce their names like this. Would be nice if the reader would learn the correct pronunciation and re-record this.

A good overview of a number of key players
Revisado: 03-26-22
It took me a chapter or two to get used to the reader's voice, but after that I really stared to liked him. I didn't think I would like the book after the first chapter, but I ended up really enjoying it. I particularly enjoyed Andrew Ng... even though I'd never vote for him politically. So, stick with it for a few chapters before you decide.
While I disagree with a lot of things with most of those interviewed, I enjoyed getting their perspectice. I'm not sure if we will ever get to GAI, I am confident that the current level of ML is never going to get us there. We need a bit more then gradient descent and backdprop. And I don't believe we will ever get to conscience AI. but it is interesting listening to those that do believe it, even if my eyes are hurting for rolling them so often.

DO NOT BUY. This is a FAKE book.
Revisado: 06-08-21
This books is some sort of generated book read by a computer. The content is really odd, sounds automatically generated. There is nothing here in regards to AI, Data Science, or Machine Learning. It goes into self-help topics, computer conscience, and a a lot of just weird stuff. I suspect it is just a scam of some sorts.
If you are not sure, just click through all of the 5-star reviews and click on the reviewers to what else they have reviewed. All of the reviews show up on the same day and say it's the greatest book ever and all of the reviews all reviewed just this book and one other one.

Eureka!
Revisado: 12-24-19
Very Eye-Opening. I’m personally someone with literally zero experience when it comes to women, so this book revealed so much to me. The phrase “Truth hurts” is spoken loudly throughout this book, but the truth will truly set you free and open you up to a new approach to relationships with women. 10/10 recommend for anyone who lacks experience with the ladies.
