I really tried, but...

If I hear the narrator say "Nye-Al" one more time, I'll scream. I hesitate to criticize a narrator - I certainly don't think I could be one. And, perhaps I'm wrong, and that is the correct way to pronounce the name in Scotland. But, it sounds like the narrator has to work hard to say it that way. That, and some of the other names, and the Scottish accent, were just not what I enjoy listening to. A shame, because I love a good series, and was looking forward to the books. This is why I am apprehensive about exploring new authors.

Audible version is hilarious!

I really enjoyed the paper version of this book, but this audible version is so much more enjoyable! Mary Jane Wells does a great job at conveying the absurdity of the situation, and the hilarious dialogue. I've listened and laughed at it several times.

Good story - terrible narrator.

I love Julie Garwood's books. I bought most of them in book form when they came out, and now am buying them again in audio. Unfortunately, this narrator should never try men's voices, and certainly not with a Scottish accent! All of the men sound like they're suffering great pain or severe intestinal distress! As the granddaughter of Scots, I can appreciate the difficulty of the accent, but this was just painful to listen to. I kept at it because I so enjoyed the story, but it was a real struggle. I would hesitate to buy another read by this narrator.

Another winner from Kathryn LeVeque!

What a great story! A very sweet romance, without the pages of gratuitous violence just because there are knights involved. I fell in love with the Sir Christian, especially through the narration by Kiff VandenHeuval! For the first time, Brad Wills has a rival for top narrator! I will be looking for more books read by him. His tone and expression perfectly fit the character of Sir Christian, and he didn't make the female characters sound simpering or whiny - a big plus! I have many LeVeque novels, and this one is going in the top five.

Why change the narrator?!

I was really looking forward to this last book in the series. However, I didn't realize the narrator had been changed. All of my manly men sounded like fops! Her voice is so simpering, I find it hard to pay attention. I have struggled through her narrations before, with difficulty, but this is the worst, I think because the previous narrator was so great. I'm still slogging through the book because it's so painful. If I didn't want to know the conclusion of the series, I would send it back.

First time I didn't love a LeVeque

I couldn't even finish this book. For one thing, the heroine is supposed to fall in love with such a violent and heartless man? Yes, he was improving a bit by the time I gave up, but it wasn't realistic at all. This was the most brutal and cruel violence I've read in one of LeVeque's books so far, and it was a bit over the top. Second - the narrator's voice for the H was more of a growl. I know there are more books in the Titans series, but I think I'm going to have to pass on them. Disappointed, because I am a big fan of this author.

Please don't use this narrator again!

A large part of the reason I enjoy LeVeque in audiobooks are the excellent male narrators, but this narrator was a very poor choice. He speaks as is he has been awake for 72 hours straight, almost slurring the words. I found it very difficult to listen to, but the book started mid-morning while I was at work, and by the time I got home, I was halfway through and wanted to see what happened in the book, so I suffered through it. I will be sure to resist purchasing books with this narrator in the future!

Would you listen to If He's Wicked again? Why?

I'm not sure. I loved these books in paper form, and was very happy to see an audio version, but the narrator sounds like English is her second language!

How did the narrator detract from the book?

It sounds like she didn't practice, as the emphasis on certain words and phrases was regularly off. Very stilted, and frequently puts the wrong emPHASis on the wrong syLLAble. It makes it annoying to listen to, although I did manage to finish it. Having purchased two other books in the series, I am now reluctant to go on with them.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No.

Disappointing, as this is a great series. I may wait to see if there are any other versions with different narrators before continuing.

One of my favorite series!

If you could sum up Some Danger Involved in three words, what would they be?

Unexpected, different, emotional. I was thrilled to see this series in audio, as I already own all of the paper copies. What a great series! I'm in a sweat waiting for the rest of the books to come out on audio, so I can take the characters with me on the way to work, or while I'm doing jobs around the house.
