I really think it could have been a good set of stories.. but by the end..I feel like I wasted my time. The blood and gore was really stupid, it seemed like the author decided to add all that after the fact... it just didn't flow with the story. and a few parts were just repetition and filler...I think Nicole is a whiny, spoiled, selfish baby.... OH poor me!!! I love you. I can't live without you, don't leave me, did he not love me as much as I love him?? She is only a teenager...Really? It was a tad bit overboard! I also think Danielle had more class then Nichole

I am a sucker for greek / roman mythology current-day stories. I felt there was a fair amount of over-simplification of the tasks they need to perform and some SWEEPING promises made that were just asking to be broken. Also, perhaps I'm just old now but who spends time making out with someone when other people are dying (and you have the power to possibly save them)?

I thought it was very creepy of her to go after somebody who was in a relationship and that her mother told her to go out of this person because he’s not married to her he’s just dating her

This whole series was outstanding, action packed and full of feels. Each book was engaging on its own but on the whole it took an old set of characters and breathed new life into them. Legends and gods and demons. It has it all.

Monster Whisperer- Great world building and unique and enticing characters as you would expect from JB. The book overlaps somewhat with her recent Scorchwood series which was also excellent. There’s no heat in the harem yet, just setting up the relationships and it looks like we’ll have some FF action for a change. Good to see. Plenty of action, drama and suspense

Monster Song- Even better than the first. The passion is volcanic and not just with the god. The action is high octane with plenty of suspense and intrigue. Just when you think they’ve got the bad guy taken care of and all will work out, Zeus steps in and ruins everybody’s day.

Call of Monsters- Rollercoaster ride to the finish. Super hot and full of all the feels. Just exactly what you want to see after investing in the characters and plot of the first two books.

If you like romanticized werewolf romance, these books aren't for you. Many of the werewolves in this series are born werewolf but don't want to be. This causes strife. The human love interests tend to get dragged into the werewolf world by others before their werewolf loves come forward. Not my favorite but I liked it.

This book would have been great she is supposed to be an alpha female she finds her make a lot of things happen then her mates mother start saying all this nasty things about her he doesn’t stick up for her she supposed to be this bossy female who doesn’t take shit from nobody but at the first sign of her meat not sticking up for her she becomes a total wuss she should’ve had a little bit more of a background if it was me I would’ve been on the first plane out of there back to my homeAnd I would’ve made

The first thing is she is a total badass alpha female
Which I loved it’s not like every other book or her mate rejects her and she wants him back and she’s paying for him no she basically tells him to go away and she basically find somebody else to love which is the best romance ever because who wants somebody who Chandon you want somebody who’s gonna love you back not for how much power you will bring and your alpha bloodline this is a book that I really loved because I do listen to a lot of books and I hate the sappy female who pines over the person who rejects them you just want them to be more of a boss you don’t want the female to be so tiny over Man who didn’t want her she basically finds her own person to love and the person who was chosen for her she ripped out of her life that is what I see is an alpha boss female

I can’t believe I read this entire series rather quickly.
The first 7 books in the series were well written and evenly paced. Did they contain s Loy of fillet and quite a bit of Sunaya whining? Of course, but that’s expected in a series that spans 8 books and two separate dnd complete spin offs gesturing fan favorite characters.
Now....book 8 we really could’ve gone without. It felt like it was a conclusion for everyone and everything at the same time they thru Annia in there at the very end and to be quite honest, I had forgotten about her character leaving to head out during book 7’s earthquake aftermath. You would think wrapping up everyone’s stories and reminding readers that Annia has a story too would be well and good. It really wasn’t. We technically didn’t learn much about Innis as a whole, did we? The trials set up by her grandmother-in-law didn’t add anything to anything either.
Despite it all, I wish we learned what exactly was Trouble’s limitation...

This book had its ups and downs. It was well-written, but the plot and character development just weren't thick enough. I did finish reading it and I might read the second book, but there are some things I couldn't get around.

The magical school gave me a lot of questions:
1. The technology is modern and everything is explained by science, but at the same time they use torches and most of the school seems to be medieval. I disliked the names for the devices they used a lot. It just clashed with the whole vibe for me, and trying to forcefully call magical things scientific didn't leave a great taste.
2. They explain their technology as scientific but they do not have an IT-person who can fix the problems with the machines. Instead, the teachers have to fix the issues.
3. What is the purpose of the school? What do they do once they finish? The subject taught are very... old-school and specific. I cannot see how they contribute to their advanced world.
4. The school is for the gifted youth, but there are almost no security measures for the students not to do unwanted things. The teachers cannot see through their gifts and have no power to stop them. It's fortunate that the students seem to be good for the most part, but this could be a serious hazard.

About the characters:
1. Everyone is either really handsome or stereotypical.
2. The characters don't really have a goal. The whole plot happens to Alex, she makes little choices herself. It is only in the last 80%-90% where she makes some sort of decisions.
3. Alex's best friends do not seem like actual people because they always go in a pair. I would have liked to have some character development for them separately. Additionally, the friends do not have much of an impact on Alex's outcome. They seem to just be important for her to make a decision to stay in the school.
4. The friends also only use their gift twice during the book. I would have liked them to someone be intertwined to the climax.
5. Alex almost dies two times at the library and she decides to go back because she is bored. I just don't see this happening.
6. The teachers are not adults enough. They know that there is a threat to Alex and the whole world, and instead they scramble around, cover up the problem, and rely on Alex being "gifted" and dealing with the problem herself. I believe that she should have been included into the issue more, even if not given all information, but at least prepared for what could happen (other than the classes).

Concerning the plot:
Almost nothing happens in the book to sway or move Alex. Even if something happens it feels like it gets swept under the rug, and kind of "oh, well this happened, I guess I'll go on with my life".
The climax was just weak. There was some information shared but it didn't feel meaningful. Alex didn't use almost anything she had learned at the school; her friends that she had spent the most of the book with, didn't contribute to the climax; the world is supposed to be very advanced, but no adult came to the rescue.

All in all, the writing was good. It was entertaining to read when something actually happened, but some of these things just annoyed me so much that I couldn't enjoy the book. I might consider reading the second one because hopefully the plot will be better there.

I didn't like this one much at all. As someone who likes RH and likes fantasy, I was intrigued by the premise but ended up being disappointed with the execution. I constantly felt like I was being "told" things about the characters and plot, instead of being "shown". Because of that, the characters never developed fully and I was forced to rely too much on RH tropes to fill in the blanks. I admit that I have rated other books with similar problems higher in the past due to the steaminess of the intimate scenes when they finally come about. I can forgive a lot if the smut is good. This book was a disappointment there as well. I will not be continuing the series.

This was a dirty filthy mafia story and it was very good. It was a long one though, it didn’t display pages but for how long it took me to read, I would guess at least 700-800 pages, though I could be wrong. But I would much rather read a long book like this than a series. I wish more authors would have one long book instead of three or four shorter ones. I can’t tell you how many times I have read a book and said I can’t wait to read book 2, but by the time it comes out I have either forgotten about it or am too busy to read the second book. This was the story of Roxxane who is a tough as nails bar owner in the seedy part of town. Everybody in the area knows not to mess with her because she knows how to fight, she has a bat behind the bar that she is not afraid to use and she will fight dirty, with a kick to the cahone’s whenever possible. When Roxy’s abusive father, whom she left when she was a teen, gets in debt to local mobsters called the Vipers he settles his debt by giving them his daughter. Then send four of their enforcers to pick her up and she gets the best of them. So the four Vipers come to her and take her as their captive. What I liked about this book: Roxy is an awesome heroine. She is independent, tough and beautiful. She isn’t afraid and she likes pain so she is able to stand up to the four hot as sin, tattooed tough guys that take her. They call each other brothers and all four are as close as real brothers because they have all been through hell and are broken in their own ways. The leader is Ryder, he wears a suit and runs the Viper corporation, which is a legitimate company worth millions and has a lot of smaller companies underneath. Ryder is cold when he needs to be and his main goal is to keep his brother’s safe. Ryder’s real brother is Kenzo, who is more emotional but is also tough in his own way, he works with Ryder in the legitimate businesses. Kenzo also is a master at games and runs several illegal casino’s, he can also can throw down when needed. Diesel is the assassin and his job is to torture and kill. He is a bit crazy from his childhood and loves to inflict pain, it is something he is very good at. Diesel can get anyone to talk when he gets to “play” with them. He is awesome and funny and cra-cra in a good way. He is the first to fall for Roxy. Garrett is a tall muscular guy and he hates women and doesn’t like them being near him or touching him. He once fell in love and it went bad and he was betrayed, so he is determined not to make that mistake again no matter how much he wants Roxy. Garrett is the enforcer and he and Diesel make sure they are getting paid by those who owe them money and are in charge of the not so legal businesses. Though the vipers run the city and most of the cops are on their payroll. They can basically do what they want without fear. I liked the storylines, first about the Roxy as a captive, then about their problems with the triad. I also really liked all of their background stories when each of them opened up about why they are broken and what their lives have been like. I also loved how hot and steamy the romances were. Though this is a reverse harem, it was generally like Roxy was having four separate romances. There was only one or two scenes where more than one of the were intimate with Roxy at the same time. What I didn’t like about the book: Though Roxy was awesome and very tough, I do think that there were a few times she was a bit too crass for me. Like one time she went with Ryder to a meeting with the board of Viper Corporation and she walks, sits down and puts her feet up on the table. I just don’t think that an adult who wants to be taken seriously would behave like that. She doesn’t need to curse at certain times and be disrespectful to look tough. I just think as a bar owner, she would know when to act crass and tough and when to act like a lady. Another thing was that we know that Diesel is a bit crazy. He shows it in many ways but especially when he is getting information from someone in the basement of their building. We also know that Roxy likes pain and Diesel likes to cause pain so they do that when they are intimate. I just didn’t like that he said a few times, even after admitting he loved her, that he might kill her someday. He is so cute sometimes, with his crazy, but that wasn’t cute to me. Though overall, I really liked this book. There were quite a few steamy scenes, but the book was very long so there was also a lot of story. I liked how it flowed and loved the action scenes. Roxy refers to John Wick a few times and this book does remind me of John Wick in a way because it was quite bloody and the bodies do pile up throughout the book. It is also hysterically funny at times and there were so many great quotes for me to put in my updates, that I couldn’t come close to using all that I wanted. I would say this was a 4 star review but the things I liked so outweighed the thing I don’t that it bumps it up to a 5. Especially considering that rather than a series, it is one long stand-alone book. I wish authors would do that a lot more.

I really enjoyed this book but there was too many times when I thought it was smacking her right in the face to find out who was controlling the mind yes I understand that love is blind but sometimes she should’ve realize what was truly going on and she should’ve said her gift right away that with the old lady didn’t have to die also she was a little too obsessed with her brother even though he was like really crazy and he didn’t care for her anymore and he stop talking to her also that he was a murderer and a psychopath
