Historia
In 2012, on his third tour of duty in Afghanistan, an improvised explosive device left Dan Crenshaw's right eye destroyed and his left blinded. Only through the careful hand of his surgeons, and what doctors called a miracle, did Crenshaw's left eye recover partial vision. And yet, he persevered, completing two more deployments. Why? There are certain stories we tell ourselves about the hardships we face—we can become paralyzed by adversity or we can adapt and overcome. We can be fragile or we can find our fortitude. Crenshaw delivers a set of lessons to help you do just that.

Absolutely a must read in these trying times!!!
Revisado: 07-17-20
In the trying times of 2020, I was nearly brought to tears a number of times while listening to this book. America is a great place, founded by true revolutionary men...yes, the execution of our ideals has not been without flaws, but life is a constant battle to strive to be better. The story of our great land.
There could have been no greater narrator than the author himself. His story is fantastic, yet the delivery is humble. I dearly hope that he is as great a patriot in real life as I envision him in my mind.
I have challenged many of the young people in my life to read this book, and any that do and can talk with me intelligently about each chapter will get $50...I hope this is a prudent investment in the future of young Americans, as we have much to be proud of and much to live up to.
I cannot recommend those book enough as a reminder to all of us as to what is at stake...we each have a duty to perpetuate the greatness of America and the foundational principles that it was created by.
Thank you Dan Crenshaw for the reminder. Wonderful job, great work!

Historia
Marine Biologist Doc Ford is hot on the trail of a dead friend’s wife. Apparently, the woman vanished into the steaming jungles of South America guided by a truly disgusting specimen of humanity. From Florida to Columbia and Panama, Doc traces their path, but a shadowy figure is following him - and the violence left in the wake of this individual is terrifying.

Of all the Doc Ford stories...
Revisado: 07-01-20
I’ve read every one of the Doc Ford and Hannah Smith books, now I’m listening to them because my eyes aren’t what they were 10 years ago...
My favorite so far in my re-exposure! No offense to the latest narrator, but McLarty nails it, at least he comes much closer to my mind’s version of Doc and the other characters.
Because I am familiar with the characters, I need no introduction...I don’t know if this is absolutely the best first time forage into a Ford novel that you can get, but then which one is? Start at the beginning and run all the way through, I have not regretted one page, or one minute of the audios either!

Historia
In this best-selling novel, Patrick D. Smith tells the story of three generations of the MacIveys, a Florida family who battle the hardships of the frontier to rise from a dirt-poor Cracker life to the wealth and standing of real estate tycoons. The story opens in 1858, when Tobias MacIvey arrives in the Florida wilderness to start a new life, and ends in 1968 with Solomon MacIvey, who realizes that the land has been exploited far beyond human need.

Great Story!

I loved the story, reminding me of Michner’s Texas...although not quite. I am a big fan a Florida history, and enjoyed the tale of south Florida settlement through the eyes of one family. I’m sure to read/listen again in a few years as memory fades!

For the U.S. Navy's elite team of SEALs, the mission seemed straightforward enough: to take control of a towering, 10,240-foot mountain peak called Takur Ghar, a key post in their plan to smash Taliban al Qaeda in eastern Afghanistan.

A bit of a letdown
Revisado: 07-07-19
The story told here was hampered by the delivery. The narrator consistently mispronounced words , and when reading dialogue, used the worst accents imaginable. It was very distracting and caused me to sour on the story itself. I believe I will try another book relating to this incident.

Historia
Southern Afghanistan was slipping away. That was clear to then-Captain Rusty Bradley as he began his third tour of duty there in 2006. The Taliban and their allies were infiltrating everywhere, poised to reclaim Kandahar Province, their strategically vital onetime capital. To stop them, the NATO coalition launched Operation Medusa, the largest offensive in its history. The battlefield was the Panjwayi Valley, a densely packed warren of walled compounds that doubled neatly as enemy bunkers.

Michener’s Hawaii- another epic success
Revisado: 07-31-18
I am listening to all my favorite Michener books in audio form now, reliving the entrancement I felt as I read these books so many years ago. The only complaint that I have regarding this performance is that there are times when the author’s voice seems to be computer generated. I am not sure if maybe this is a glitch in my download or not, but it was never enough of a distraction for me to stop listening.

Historia
Marine biologist Doc Ford has been known to help his friends out of jams occasionally, but he's never faced a situation like this. His old pal Carl Fitzpatrick has been chasing sunken wrecks most of his life, but now he's run afoul of the Florida Division of Historical Resources. Its director, Leonard Nickelby, despises amateur archaeologists, which is bad enough, but now he and his young "assistant" have disappeared - along with Fitzpatrick's impounded cache of rare Spanish coins and the list of uncharted wreck sites Fitz spent decades putting together.

Huge fan of Doc Ford and RW White...
Revisado: 06-21-18
I’ve read every Doc Ford book in the series, as well as many others written by White. I absolutely love them for what they are. I call them airplane books...I love salt water, fly fishing, tarpon, sharks, baseball - I suppose Doc is exactly what I would like to be reincarnated in another life. That’s why this is rough for me to share.
This was my first Doc Ford audio book. I do not know if it was the reader, who is not what Doc has sounded like in my head, or the story that I was not impressed with. This book carried none of the excitement that I’m used to.
I will try another audio book with one of my favorite Doc Ford stories, and try to decide if I should leave this series to my own mind instead of using the ease of audio books.
