Historia
In the summer after graduating from college, Suleika Jaouad was preparing, as they say in commencement speeches, to enter “the real world”. She had fallen in love and moved to Paris to pursue her dream of becoming a war correspondent. The real world she found, however, would take her into a very different kind of conflict zone. It started with an itch - first on her feet, then up her legs, like a thousand invisible mosquito bites. Then a trip to the doctor and, a few weeks shy of her 23rd birthday, a diagnosis: leukemia, with a 35 percent chance of survival.

Finally! Honestly about cancer!
Revisado: 05-23-21
Watching my sister and nephew both go through cancer treatment I felt like there was the reality of it and the performative illusion of “cancer warriors” and “brave fighters” that everyone wanted to hear. So grateful Suleika put works to the honest experience of it. It was amazing and healing to listen to.

Historia
At 17 years old, Ruthie Lindsey is hit by an ambulance near her home in rural Louisiana. She's given a five percent chance of survival and one percent chance of walking again. One month later after a spinal fusion surgery, Ruthie defies the odds, leaving the hospital on her own two feet. Just a few years later, newly married and living in Nashville, Ruthie begins to experience debilitating pain. Her case confounds doctors and after numerous rounds of testing, imaging, and treatment, they prescribe narcotic painkillers - lots of them.

Completely Wonderful
Revisado: 05-09-20
Ruthie’s story is beautiful, raw, and honest. Her journey to find healing is one that everyone can relate to and with so many people struggling right now, I think it’s so timely to listen to. I’m so grateful Ruthie read her own story for the audiobook. It was like listening to a new best friend open up after a few glasses of wine sitting next to a river in the mountains. What a gem. I hope she writes more.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Listen Immediately

Listening to Trevor tell his own story was truly remarkable. Arguably the best biography of our time. I could not recommend it more highly.
