A Little Too Unhinged
Revisado: 04-23-25
CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!!!!!
It was good... but the whole twist and island backstory was supremely far-fetched. I was really enjoying the story until that was revealed towards the end. Wild, insane women making a man-less existence... someone lying in the road wearing their wife's coat so that she'd hit them and hopefully die because she secretly was pregnant... Kitty being 100% unhinged... it was a little wild for me!

Good, if not Predictable
Revisado: 04-19-25
I did enjoy this book as I am a fan of LGBTQIA+ YA. A good story of “finding oneself”, if not predictably. I have listened to many stories narrated by Michael Crouch… he’s a good narrator… but he always sounds so sad!

Historia

But her newfound magic and independence come with a price: No one can fall in love with the Honey Witch. Great Narration, Ok Plot
Revisado: 03-16-25
The cast of narrators did an outstanding job bringing this story to life! Overall, the plot was ok. Took a long time to get to any twists and turns… which were pretty far-fetched.

This free book was a good listen! A coming of age LGBTQIA+ story with a focus on mental health too… all tied up around the game of hockey. This is a simple story with a good message!

Historia
Maine, 1789: When the Kennebec River freezes, entombing a man in the ice, Martha Ballard is summoned to examine the body and determine cause of death. As a midwife and healer, she is privy to much of what goes on behind closed doors in Hallowell. Her diary is a record of every birth and death, crime and debacle that unfolds in the close-knit community. Months earlier, Martha documented the details of an alleged rape committed by two of the town’s most respected gentlemen—one of whom has now been found dead in the ice.

Solid Story!
Revisado: 01-15-25
This book has a unique time setting. Knowing that it is based in truth, makes the story more interesting. I listened to it on audio and would have absolutely died listening at normal speed. There is a very strong female main character. And I also really liked the way that the problem unfolded and was unsolved.

Coming of Age Story... Incredibly Late!
Revisado: 12-17-24
A cute story that allowed me to turn off my brain and just enjoy. I only mildly paid attention and still followed along. Had to listen to audio at 1.7 speed... 1.0 was snail's pace! This is a coming of age story... but the main characters are in their 70s and 80s!

Historia
It’s a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t here for the big event. Phoebe is here because she’s dreamed of coming for years—she hoped to shuck oysters and take sunset sails with her husband, only now she’s here without him, at rock bottom, and determined to have one last decadent splurge on herself.

Great Book!!!!!
Revisado: 09-07-24
I LOVE this book. Mainly because I AM Phoebe. I identified with her character SO much… divorced as an early 30-something because of infertility and feeling like I didn’t want to be here anymore. I am healed and good and engaged to an amazingly caring man. But this book gave me so much hope! I laughed and cried. I love these characters! 10/10 recommend!
