Plot
Revisado: 02-25-25
This is by far the best book in the series so far. Great plot. I really enjoyed that so much of the narrative was written from the character who was in danger’s point of view instead of the usual main characters. I do like the main characters but it was a really refreshing way to tell the story. While the narrator is much improved over the first two books, they still have strangely placed pauses and stressed words.

Historia
On a rocky beach in the southwest of Ireland, the body of Jimmy O’Reilly, sixty-nine years old and dressed in a suit and his dancing shoes, is propped on a boulder, staring sightlessly out to sea. A cryptic message is spelled out next to the body with sixty-nine polished black stones and a discarded vial of deadly veterinarian medication lies nearby. Jimmy was a wealthy racehorse owner, known far and wide as The Dancing Man. In a town like Dingle, everyone knows a little something about everyone else. But dig a bit deeper, and there’s always much more to find.

I enjoyed the story.
Revisado: 02-05-25
I enjoyed the story, however, the narration was very jarring at times; there are often pauses for no reason between words and it completely takes one out of the story if there is a long pause where there is no need for any pause. At the beginning of the book, the pauses were so frequent that I thought maybe I would enjoy the book more if I spread it up to 1.2 but the pauses were still wrong, almost worse, so I had to turn it back down to 1.0. The narration was unfortunate because I would recommend the audiobook to friends if it was easier to listen to, and I am really hoping that this person is not the narrator for the other books in this series.

Historia
Agatha Raisin’s private detective agency is working flat out on a series of shop burglaries. The break-ins seem to have taken a violent turn when a friend of Agatha’s is murdered during a raid on his shop. Although determined to nail the villains, Agatha still makes time to help Sir Charles Fraith prepare to stage a massive, hugely glamorous, promotional event in the grounds of his ancestral home, Barfield House.

Teamwork

I’m happy to see Sir. Charles play a larger role in this book; the character of John is really very boring to me.

Historia
A visit to the local village fete for a spot of fun and relaxation turns into a nightmare for Agatha Raisin when she discovers the body of the local landowner in the woods with an arrow in his chest and trousers round his ankles. Agatha’s old adversary, Detective Chief Inspector Wilkes, declares the death a tragic accident, believing the victim has been hit by a stray arrow from an archery demonstration. Agatha is convinced of foul play, however, and is shocked when Wilkes eventually agrees … with her as his prime murder suspect.

Didn’t feel like M.C. Beaton to me for the first time.
Revisado: 01-12-25
There was some lack of continuity with early books in the series (for example, both of Agatha’s cats were not “given” to her; one was given to her by Bill and the other one was found by Agatha and she thought it was her lost cat).
There also was not enough interaction with Sir Charles and James for my liking.

Shocking news reaches them—an old friend has been killed, and a dangerous package he was protecting has gone missing. The gang's search leads them into the antiques business, where the tricks of the trade are as old as the objects themselves. Beautifully written
Revisado: 08-20-24
I have really enjoyed all for all of The Thursday Murder Club books, but this one is written so masterfully and was such truth that it will probably always be my favorite. However, there are chapters of the book that I would advise listening to you when you are not driving. Shaw does an amazing job reading this book; she has truly found every characters voice and I hope she continues to be the narrator for all future books ofthis series.

Humor?
Revisado: 09-09-20
I actually enjoyed this book, however, I felt that it was missing a lot of the humor from his previous books.
