Historia
P.G. Wodehouse, the master of British humor, produced dozens of books and hundreds of short stories in his long and prolific career. But none of his creations has quite captured the world's imagination as much as his bumbling, empty-headed, man-about-town Bertie Wooster and Bertie's faithful, knight-in-shining-tuxedo Jeeves. Collected here are three of Wodehouse's most beloved "Jeeves and Wooster" tales—including eight short stories from the anthology My Man, Jeeves, as well as the complete novels The Inimitable Jeeves and Right Ho, Jeeves.

The narrator sounds like he’s talking over a crowd
Revisado: 06-25-24
The narrator sounds like he’s performing at a bar or someplace where he has to go for more volume than inflection. I read several reviews praising him, so though I didn’t like the sample, I thought he would improve with the dialogue. I should have trusted my own ears. Listen to the sample and see if you can stand it. If you can, the stories are a lot of fun. I’m going to have to return it and read hard copies I think.

Historia
As Adolf Hitler and the Nazis seduced a nation, bullied a continent, and attempted to exterminate the Jews of Europe, a small number of dissidents and saboteurs worked to dismantle the Third Reich from the inside. One of these was Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a pastor and author. In this New York Times bestselling biography, Eric Metaxas takes both strands of Bonhoeffer's life—the theologian and the spy—and draws them together to tell a searing story of incredible moral courage in the face of monstrous evil.

An inspiring life story
Revisado: 08-10-22
I would have preferred a more streamlined telling. The writer jumped from one point to a future or past point several times and it was difficult at times to keep track of where you were in the story. A timeline would have helped. The story itself was amazing and worth puzzling out.

Freddie Threepwood is making a last-ditch attempt to convert Lady Alcester to the beneficial quality of Donaldson’s Dog-Joy; and in the bar-parlor of the Anglers’ Rest, Mr. Mulliner fascinates everyone with the secret history of old Hollywood.

I can’t give the story a fair review yet
Revisado: 03-25-21
I’m writing this not for the story but for the performance. I have barely started and I wish I could chuck it because the narrator is not doing well at all. Other narrators tend to have a relaxing but humorous execution of the story which I think Wodehouse stories demand. This one is full of awkward pauses, very overdone voices, and annoying bursts of speed. And it’s the only version I see on Audible. I might get the kindle version and quit on this, it’s such a train wreck so far.

What? You don’t know Adam Wade? Here’s your chance! Adam Wade’s personal-yet-universal stories and vulnerable delivery have made him one of the most popular storytellers and comedians in the country on "story slam" platforms like The Moth and Comedy Central’s Whiplash. This Audible Original, performed on stage in front of a live audience, combines Wade’s greatest hits stories with entirely new material.

Didn’t listen to it because of the warning at the beginning
Revisado: 01-04-20
I wish the warning about mature content was somewhere in the description. If it were, I wouldn’t have chosen this book. I have like three originals I don’t enjoy or want to listen to that I’m stuck with because I didn’t know about the content.

not what I expected
Revisado: 06-12-19
I was hoping for more of a fairytale/ adventure story but there were a lot of sexual references. The parts of the story I might have found interesting- the farm and creamery, the charm of a small town-was buried under all that in my opinion.

I love this book, and although the recording isn't the best, the narrator is good except in one point: he persisted in calling Psmith "puh-smith" or "psssmith" throughout the book even when reading the instructions in pronunciation given by the character.

Historia
A successful LA artist, Roman Velasco appears to have everything he could possibly want - money, women, fame. Only Grace Moore, his reluctant, newly hired personal assistant, knows how little he truly has. The demons of Roman's past seem to echo through the halls of his empty mansion and out across his breathtaking Topanga Canyon view. But Grace doesn't know how her boss secretly wrestles with those demons: by tagging buildings as the Bird, a notorious but unidentified graffiti artist - an alter ego that could destroy his career and land him in prison.

the second act was okay
Revisado: 10-05-18
I almost quit several times. So many eye rolling comments like "the scent of healthy male sweat" and "he'd never had to [insert any effort] with a woman." Your usual Francine Rivers with a worldly man used to getting his way bullying a demure servant woman who takes his crap to make ends meet as she slowly influences him to change.
*spoiler alert*
After he messed up big time and she moved away, the story instantly improved as he tried to focus on his relationship with God and she made up with her aunt and forgave her. When they got together again it wasn't so cheesy. I wouldn't read it again though because I'd have to slog through all of that sensual cheesiness.

While the world seems to be in love with the idea of tiny houses and minimalism, many of us simply can't purge it all and start from nothing. Yet a home with too much stuff is difficult to maintain, so where do we begin? Add in paralyzing emotional attachments and constant life challenges, and it can feel almost impossible to make real decluttering progress.

an amazing book
Revisado: 06-05-18
Warning: not a young adult book. There are some bedroom scenes between married people, one which was very detailed that I found it necessary to skip over, and one separate and very disturbing scene which was a turning point in the book.
That being said, this is a very good book about two faithful women with a mother/ daughter relationship living totally different lives who kept their faith in God when they had to turn their backs on the people around them.

I enjoyed this book, except for the Freudian theories about children in chapter...14 I think? the one about setting boundaries with children. I felt like that chapter was a little idealist as well, but the Freudian theories were out of date and disturbing in my opinion. I noticed the rest of the book had scads of scriptures to back it up, but there were no scriptures in that part.
