Taught to kill without question, Emma is tasked by her demanding headmaster with going undercover at Grover Cleveland High School. I picked this up after meeting the author at a legal conference in TX, not knowing what to expect given mixed prior experience with authors I had met IRL before reading their work. But, I really enjoyed the story and characters in this offbeat spy thriller that was clean and would make for a fun teen-aimed miniseries or movie.

Historia
Dr. Abigail Favale provides an in-depth yet accessible account of the gender paradigm: a framework for understanding reality and identity that has recently risen to prominence. With substance, clarity, and compassion, Favale teases out the hidden assumptions of the gender paradigm and exposes its effects. Yet this book is not merely an exposé—it is also a powerful, moving articulation of a Christian understanding of reality: a holistic paradigm that proclaims the dignity of the body, the sacramental meaning of sexual difference, and the interconnectedness of all creation.

Truth about complex topics, presented with grace
Revisado: 04-09-23
This excellent read is approachable in its explanation of challenging topics regarding feminism, gender, and sexual ethics/morality. Dr. Favale's expertise and clear writing communicate very concisely about history, modern change, and practical insight in a manner that doesn't compromise truth but that is loving and gracious.

excellent, challenging, and insightful
Revisado: 11-09-22
As usual, Thomas Sowell does a masterful job of distilling complex themes and hard truths (including many truths that contradict prevailing narratives). The cultural & economic realities that have shaped individuals and groups are evaluated compassionately but with unflinching acknowledgement of uncomfortable facts.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. challenging, but edifying
Revisado: 05-22-21
This short book was excellent: well-reasoned, applying factual data, the author's personal experience & education, and on-point references to Scripture. It is difficult to confront error in love, but he does just that. It challenged me to rethink and change some of my attitudes and actions. All of which combined to make it a highly worthwhile read.
