Is the theme of this story, by an author I’ve only recently discovered & is quickly becoming a favourite. A tale of love and loss, and the kindness of strangers in the theatre of war torn London during the blitz. Highly recommended.

A beautiful story of love, loss and the out working of grief, juxtaposed between the triangle shirt factory fire in 1911 & 9/11 survivor and a beautiful scarf with marigolds that binds the story together. Highly recommended.

Nice story, took me a bit to get into it. It is a series of shorter stories (each a theme around a tea cup) written within the main story, whose main character is a writer.

Total stand out stories of everyday family life with children and toddlers. Many laugh out loud, side splitting moments when something an adult has said is misunderstood or misinterpreted by the young Jeremy James and the ensuing chaos that inevitably follows. Good clean wholesome fun. Family favourite of 3 generations.

The main storyline of this book was a 75 yo widow rediscovering life after embarking on a road trip through France in a camper van. However, a good portion of the story was about her only son & daughter-in-law and their flagging marriage. This book is like another written by the author around this time, where so much of the book is taken up with internal dialogue & ruminating - in this instance by the son. It gets very tedious. I have 11 Judy Leigh books in my library, most I absolutely love, but this one is not a fav.

I have loved the first 3 books of this series, with a gradual building of depth in the backstories and ongoing lives of early characters. This book fell off the shelf, however, when an unexpected plot twist half way through the book seemed completely implausible. It completely derailed the established character of beloved family member and seemed like a ‘hail Mary’ thrown by the author to keep the story going. By the end it was all tied up nicely in a bow, I wished the author went in another direction. I did enjoy the series & still feel it’s worth listening to.

This is a unlikely love story of a young US pilot that survives a crash landing & a Dutch girl who lives through all of the horrors of Nazi occupation, the deprivation of war and the loss of all she holds near & dear. I have heard WWII stories told from many perspectives - but hadn’t heard much about the Dutch people & their resistance & subsequent resilience. Great story. Narration is a bit nasal, in some parts more than others, a little distracting, but definitely worth listening to.

I liked that the characters introduced in the first book carried through in the background as context for books 2 & 3. Each story had twists and turns & some delightfully unexpected endings in a small town outside of Nashville. Well narrated & presented,

The plot was the same for all four books. Woman meets impossible guy, guy meets impossible woman. The majority of the narrative is one or the others self talk and self doubt. A crisis, a refusal, then they get married. The epilogue usually includes a baby or a pregnancy. The stories were pleasant enough to listen to, but not at all intriguing or riveting. Predictable almost from the first paragraph.
