Boring narrators but interesting story
Revisado: 11-20-23
This would have been much better to read- this narration is so boring- it sounds like computer generated voices.

This story is captivating- the characters are beautifully developed and the history of the time is perfectly integrated. John Lee is quite possibly my favorite narrator- so much talent!

Great rendition but not the unabridged novel!
Revisado: 02-18-16
Great performances- good screenplay but not the unabridged novel that was described! I especially enjoyed the cast discussion at the end.

What a snoozer!
Revisado: 01-29-16
I think it is mainly the content and writing style- but also the boring monotone narrator (who I sweat suppressed a yawn at times while reading!)- this was painful to listen to and utterly uninteresting! It is even worse than Atlas Shrugged!

Historia
Set during the time of the Napoleonic Wars, this classic gives a satirical picture of a worldly society. The novel revolves around the exploits of the impoverished but beautiful and devious Becky Sharp who craves wealth and a position in society. Calculating and determined to succeed, she charms, deceives and manipulates everyone she meets. A novel of early 19th-century English society, it takes its title from the place designated as the centre of human corruption in John Bunyan's 17th-century allegory.

Historia
Decades after its original publication, James Agee’s last novel seems, more than ever, an American classic. For in his lyrical, sorrowful account of a man’s death and its impact on his family, Agee painstakingly created a small world of domestic happiness and then showed how quickly and casually it could be destroyed.
