Meh. Not amazing
Revisado: 01-07-23
This story is semi interesting but it’s poorly written. The end felt rushed and heady handy. I did not enjoy the primary voice narrator. I wouldn’t recommend this.

Not the most enthralling... a bit of a snooze fest
Revisado: 12-03-18
There was really nothing special about this book. It reminded me of a Lifetime movie. It took so long to get to the "payoff" and even that felt a bit of a stretch. I wouldn't waste a credit on this.

Historia
In the spring of 1974, Calliope Stephanides, a student at a girls' school in Grosse Pointe, finds herself drawn to a chain-smoking, strawberry-blonde classmate with a gift for acting. The passion that furtively develops between them - along with Callie's failure to develop physically - leads Callie to suspect that she is not like other girls. In fact, she is not really a girl at all.

Great Story - Great Narrator
Revisado: 03-21-13
Would you listen to Middlesex again? Why?
This is my second Jeffrey Eugenides audio book (The Marriage Plot) and I loved both. Eugenides has a writing style that is smooth yet packed with a punch. It translates really well into audiobook which is very important. Kristoffer Tabori did an excellent job of giving the characters voices and I would seek out other books that he narrates. I highly recommend this to all.

Historia
Imagine an Age of Exploration full of alchemy, human dissection, sea monsters, betrayal, torture, religious controversy, and magic. In Europe, the magic is thin, but at the edge of the world, where the stars reach down close to the Earth, wonders abound. This drives the bravest explorers to the alluring Western Ocean. Christopher Sinclair is an alchemist who cares only about one thing: quintessence, a substance he believes will grant magical powers and immortality. And he has a ship....

I couldn't egt through the narration

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
This book seemed like something I would really like, but I found the narration to be too distracting. Maybe this is not the sort of book that translates into audio form. I had to restart the first chapter 3x times because I was not following along.
