fabulous character development
Revisado: 02-14-25
I've read all of Katherine Center's books and I have to admit that this was my favorite one hands down. The topic is heavy but there were so many light moments as well. I loved the eb and flow of depth and goofy fun. Center's character development is always fabulous. She draws you into the character's lives and makes you feel invested in the story. I highly recommend this book. I highly recommend Katherine Center. Read this! Read all of her stuff!

This was a great listen. The playful and loving banter between the two friends was enjoyable! Even when aspects of conversation wasn't super relatable it was still somehow very relatable. Please make another season!!

This book was super adorable. The characters were lovable and relatable. I plan to scoop up everything else by this author. The narrator was also great. Don't miss out on this one!

Historia
Four jackets of varying weights, enough socks for the entire Confederate Army, three umbrellas, most of the antacid aisle from the local pharmacy, and six pairs of old-people sneakers that all look exactly the same. Have you ever helped your parents pack for a weeklong cruise? No? I didn't think so. So shut it. So begins vacation for Summer Hartwell - 26 years old, living with her anxiety-ridden parents, and unwillingly booked by her brother on a weeklong cruise to Bermuda.

Bad. Just so bad!
Revisado: 04-29-20
I wanted to like this book. It had a cute premise and I enjoy fun light stories like this. I can handle wacky characters but the parents in this book are beyond annoying and just way over the top. I get what the author was going for but she missed the mark. I tried to stick with it but I just couldn't finish it.

Historia
"The tragedies keep coming. As we reel from the latest horror..." So begins a new epilogue, illustrating how Columbine became the template for nearly two decades of "spectacle murders". It is a false script, seized upon by a generation of new killers. In the wake of Newtown, Aurora, and Virginia Tech, the imperative to understand the crime that sparked this plague grows more urgent every year. What really happened April 20, 1999? The horror left an indelible stamp on the American psyche, but most of what we "know" is wrong.

Great!
Revisado: 01-23-19
I highly recommend this book to anyone who remembers what it was like to watch the news reports on the Columbine massacre as it unfolded back in 1999. So many perceptions regarding motive and circumstance were actually reported incorrectly by the media at the time. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing the details as they have been pieced together here in this book. It is, of course, nonfiction but the book is so smooth that it almost reads like fiction.
This book was very well researched. The author combed through countless journal entries, interviews and media coverage. I remember the events of Columbine well. It was so interesting to hear so many details regarding the victims and their families. So many people have been affected by the actions of these two young men. I found the information regarding Eric and Dylan, the two perpetrators, to be especially interesting. If only they had received the emotional/psychological help they so desperately needed. My heart aches for their families as it does for the families of the victims. This book is worth the credit!!!

very disappointing
Revisado: 10-31-17
I really wanted to like this book. I enjoy reading YA fiction but this book seemed young and/or unpolished. I didn't feel like the characters had much depth. I was surprised and distracted by weird sound effects throughout the story. spoiler alert: I wasn't expecting the characters to develop wolf-like characteristics. it just seemed odd and out of place.

Historia
Thirteen-year-old Steven has a totally normal life (well, almost): he drums in the All-Star Jazz Band, has a crush on the hottest girl in school (who doesn’t know he’s alive), frequently finds himself sitting across from his school counselor (who bribes him with candy), and is constantly annoyed by his five-year-old brother, Jeffrey (who is cuter than cute). But when Jeffrey gets sick, Steven’s world is turned upside down as he is forced to deal with his brother’s illness, his parents’ attempts to keep the family in one piece, the band, overdue homework, girls, and of course, Dangerous Pie.

Sweet story
Revisado: 05-24-17
This was a cute story. The main character is quite likable and the narration is great. I'm an adult but I read( listen to) a lot of ya fiction. This is definitely geared for a younger crowd. Overall it was a sweet story with a positive family message.

Historia
When siblings Dan and Hayley Daley inherit their late grandmother's derelict Victorian farmhouse, it seems like a dream come true. All they have to do is fix the place up and sell it for a tidy profit! Except - as anyone who has renovated an old house knows - things are never that easy. The walls are rapidly crumbling around them, the architect is a certified lunatic, the budget is spiraling...and then there's the disturbingly intelligent cow to worry about.

Historia
When I left for college, I put 1,000 miles between my future and my past. I'd made a choice - I was going to cross back to the other side, to live with the living. I just didn't know how. And then I met Nate Preeter. An All-American baseball player, Nate wasn't supposed to notice a ghost-of-a-girl like me. But he did. He shouldn't want to know my name. But he did. And when he learned my secret and saw the scars it left behind, he was supposed to run. But he didn't.

Good overall but frustrating at times
Revisado: 08-26-15
I liked this book overall but it was a bit frustrating at parts. The main characters fought over really minuscule things. The book delved into some big issues like PTSD and the loss of a loved one. that content was handled well. It just annoyed me when both characters wanted the same thing but they kept blowing little things out of proportion especially when there were bigger things at play.
One pet peeve: they kept talking about how her eyes were watering when she was actually crying. The language didn't always match up with what the author was trying to say. Frustrating.
