This book is tremendous - carefully plotted, richly drawn, artistic in its descriptions without falling into cliches or long detours. So much to think about and unpack.

The narrator is wonderful in his reading. Could not be happier.

Fun stories, however lacks an overall narrative thread. The ending is particularly abrupt, leaving you wishing for more detailed information or at least a more complete story.

Great world building, but a little anticlimactic

I appreciated so much the world that King builds in this novel. Such nuanced characters and so many threads that he tied together made for great enjoyment.

However, in the end, it was a little anticlimactic. It wrapped up quickly in Vegas. And what exactly was Larry’s moment he wasn’t supposed to miss? I don’t know.

Regardless, it’s still an enjoyable read.

Great Narration

I’ve been an Audible subscriber for three years now and I’ve never written a review.

As with all Chernow’s books this is an intimidating tome. However the gentleman that does the narration is absolutely phenomenal! The different voices he uses to differentiate between historical characters makes the author’s work much more clear and makes the reading/listening much more enjoyable.

Chernow professes this to be his favorite work, and I agree. It will force me to look forward to anything else that he publishes regardless of intimidation. More so this is the first time I will seek out other books read by the same narrator and read them/listen to them for just that reason.

Can’t recommend highly enough.

I thought the overall story with very good. The author relied heavily on primary source documentation without being overbearing.

Unfortunately the reader tried using different voices when somebody was being quoted and the overall audiobook was poorly edited. It's detracts a little bit from the book but overall I would recommend it.
