What did you love best about The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society?

It made me want to live in Guernsey. The narration was awesome-having many narrators provides a great delivery.

What did you like best about this story?

Description of Guernsey was wonderful. Character development was great. Flashbacks to the occupation-done nicely.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The accents of the narrators make you feel you are there with the characters.

If you could take any character from The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Elizabeth-she is a courageous and good person.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Somewhat. The author had some good ideas, the book just needed to be re-worked a lot.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

The main character was rather unsympathetic. I think the author intends a deeper takeaway, given the main character's flaws, but I cannot be sure of that intent. I do love historical fiction, and the author does weave this into the story. I think this could have been a much better novel if it had been seriously re-worked.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I prefer men to read the male parts and females to read the female parts-it just comes across better and immerses the reader into the story.

Was The Yonahlossee Riding Camp for Girls worth the listening time?

Sure, just to see what the hype was about, but I probably would not recommend it to others.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes...long but keeps reader engaged! Lots of twists and turns.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Secret Keeper?

When Laurel looks at the picture and finds out who her mother really is.

Which scene was your favorite?

The initial Peter Pan rehearsal in the attic-when Jimmy thinks he has caught Vivien but finds out what she is really doing.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but pretty much impossible due to the length.

Any additional comments?

I was unfamiliar with the author, but I am now looking for other books by the same author. So much better than the so-called bestselling authors who write formulaic novels containing the same plot over and over again.

What did you love best about The Kitchen House?

The author cleverly introduces the characters. We are able to see how even the most fatally flawed characters came to be so.

What did you like best about this story?

People always act as if anything prior to modern times were "the good old days," and everything was so pleasant. This story shows that life was harsh, cruel, and arbitrary. After all, the ship captain who indentured the main character was actually a kind gentleman who was helping her out. That is how it would be viewed back then. Now, anyone would be outraged. However, the main character perseveres.

Which scene was your favorite?

In Philapelphia, where she was in Meg's room. Everything was so hopeful and her life was changing.

Who was the most memorable character of The Kitchen House and why?

Marshall-the personification of evil-created by the neglect of his opium-addicted mother and pedophile tutor.

Any additional comments?

Great author-I highly recommend this book!!!
