Good Info - A Tad Heavy-handed

Interesting focus on the amount of profiteering (grift) that pervades the current right wing (republican party). The author recounts that the situation has been developing over decades and reached its zenith with Trump’s ascendency.

While the story seems plausible and is likely accurate, the author’s snarky and heavy-handed style diminishes the books impact. It’s doubtful that Trump supporters will see this as anything other than hyperbolic, left wing exaggerations.

I believe it.

Loved this autobiography that recounts her experiences with (my words) billionaire, man children who don’t comprehend the negative aspects of their work while overstating the good.

I’ve spent enough time with silicon valley wannabes to find the stories of the real thing to be quite chilling.

I had never “read” Patchett before the “Dutch House.” After “reading” that I had to try “Tom Lake” based on my experience as well as “Tom Lake’s” great reviews.

I thought it was wonderful and Meryl Streep’s narration an added plus.

Mitch & Abby???

It’s not a bad story - not as suspenseful or exciting or poignant as I’ve come to expect from Grisham, but not bad.

My only real complaint is that using Mitch and Abby in the narrative adds little to the story. They are not terribly compelling. The story would have had the same impact with another lawyer and his wife.

Class Act - Deserves Praise

Wonderful recounting of the events surrounding January 6th coupled with a tale of personal responsibility, courage and integrity.

I don’t agree with Cheney about much politically and even less with her Dad. However, her strength and respect for our constitution is undeniable and wonderfully expressed.

This is a must read for everyone, especially those who don’t see the peril that could befall this nation in 2024.
