I liked everything about this one. Great narration; captivating storyline; satisfying conclusion that still kept me on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend.

Historia
London. A city drowning in fog. Amid that fog, a man with no name dies above a strange junkshop. Threads of mist and intrigue weave around a court case with no resolution, linking great country houses with the lowest slum in the city, mingling the high-born with a boy who sweeps the filthy streets, enshrouding devious plots and sudden murder, bringing together two extraordinary women – Lady Dedlock and Esther Summerson - who seem to have nothing whatsoever in common but who will find themselves inextricably linked.

I wasn’t a fan of this one. The plot was a bit ridiculous. I mean, who would do all that?

Great Premise
Revisado: 06-08-24
I enjoyed the narrative, although it took me more than one attempt to understand the transitions from present to past. I was surprised by how it all turned out in the end. I’d recommend this one.

Well played performance
Revisado: 05-24-24
The alternating perspectives made for good listening. The story revealed itself nicely that way. I came away with a feeling of real triumph for the heroine and a sense of genuine sadness for the murdered women.
Overall I liked it!

The narrator’s voice!
Revisado: 05-01-24
I thought I was listening to a child narrate the story. Given the action of the plot, it just didn’t work for me. I enjoyed the author’s first book in this series, so I am disappointed that I’ll not even finish the second.

I was expecting to like it as much as I like We Were Liars. I didn’t. I was rather bored.

Historia
The Girl of Sugar Beach is the most watched documentary in television history - a riveting, true-life mystery that unfolds over 12 weeks and centers on a fascinating question: Did Grace Sebold murder her boyfriend, Julian, while on a Spring Break vacation, or is she a victim of circumstance and poor police work? Grace has spent the last 10 years in a St. Lucian prison, and reaches out to filmmaker Sidney Ryan in a last, desperate attempt to prove her innocence. As Sidney begins researching, she uncovers issues that were all overlooked during the original investigation.

You’re kidding me!
Revisado: 02-29-24
The story was interesting, but the direction shifted without any transition. I was stunned to realize my person was dead and then double stunned with who got blamed for it, and then absolutely floored me when it ended as it did.

Another good one, but…
Revisado: 11-22-23
The narrator bothered me on this one. The female characters were laughable. The male characters were inconsistent. At one point I couldn’t understand why everyone was yelling. Aside from all that, this was Nils Shapiro at his finest, and that’s enough for me.
