A Strong Outing

A stronger entry than the first novela in the series this book fleshes out a lot of what the other book doesn't while leaving plenty of lead-ins for future books.

Strong performances by the two readers though I'm not really sure they are needed as the book is not really split evenly among mail and female character perspectives and the differences in how they read the same characters can be jolting when experiencing them back-to-back.

If you enjoyed the Mistborn series you might enjoy this book and it's predecessor, though not as strong an outing Daniel B. Greene has skills as a clearly well read new author and I have no doubt that he will grow and hone those skills over time.

An Excellent Read

This book was a real treat as someone who grew up in Maine and went to college in Massachusetts! An extremely witty book, had some good slow chuckles and laugh-out-loud moments.

An Excellent Book for Lovers of Hidden Treasure

This book is full of small stories about the hidden or lost stories about the mundane and everyday structures and designs in the places we live.

If you are a fan of history, design, architecture, or overlooked wonder in the world around you then you will like this book. It is read by Roman Mars, one of the authors and host of the 99% Invisible podcast, and he does a great job as usual and the structure of the book makes it great as a book to absorb in little chunks, it's a good book to read while reading other books.

Good Star Wars

A good Star Wars story with well performed narration. So far this seems like a great intro to the High Republic era for anyone looking for something new to dig into.

A Pleasant Surprise

I picked this up on sale and was very pleasantly surprised, the setting and characters of this book were very fun and compelling, a mix of cyberpunk and magical urban fantasy that works well in a familiar but original way. The narrative performance of Emily Woo Zeller gave the story an appropriate "I just work here" tone and it worked so well. While the length worked for the story I did feel like it could have been longer, but as I was finishing this book I picked up the other two in the series and was pleased to see they were both a bit longer.
