I would recommend this book to naturalists and any other nature enthusiasts. I would also suggest this to schools as books to reach with student (particularly in the Americas). It gives us some insight into the history of the lands in which we inhabit, how we are all connected as a single continent of America, and as a planet as a whole. It also gives us concept of how we got here and came to understand this world around us. A good example of history to show us what not to do in the future and how to better appreciate and take care of our shared world.

I thought this book would live up to the title a bit more, but there didn’t feel like there was much of a story. It’s pretty much just a bunch of anecdotes slammed together onto one book. And felt very disorganized and scattered, was hard to follow

I have been a fan of Michelle Zauner’s music with Japanese Breakfast for years now. I even saw her play live in Jersey City once.

I was introduced to Japanese Breakfast during an incredibly difficult time in my life emotionally and immediately felt connected to her lyrics. For the next year that followed, Soft Sounds from Another Planet and Psychopomp were major staples of my musical diet. They inspired much of my creative works that served as a healing outlet for me.

I say all this to say that I cried like a baby to get such a deep insight of Michelle’s journey through this experience of losing her mother. It brought so much illumination to the stories within so many of her songs that I have loved for years! Songs I have been feeling the stories in her lyrics through my own lens and through my own experiences that I connected to those words. It feels like a privilege to hear the true story that built many of those songs.

A huge thank you to Michelle for writing this and everyone who helped her! It’s almost surreal how connected and invested I felt to the whole experience despite everyone in her story being complete strangers to me in life.

100% recommend to anyone, 200% to Japanese Breakfast fans!!

This speech is just as relevant now as it was 53 years ago. MLK’s words rang very clear and concise in this speech through Wanda Sykes. It’s inspiring to the very core of anyone who truly believes in the fundamentals of real American values - life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; as well as freedom, equality, justice, opportunity, and the ongoing fight for humanity in this country. He speaks from the heart and of real human experience in the USA, and there is no mistake in the truths presented.

Caution: Will make you deeply uncomfortable and/or compel you to gravitate toward unfounded conspiracies, willful ignorance, outright hatred (or a combination of these) — if you are racist.
