Historia
As Indigenous scientist and author of Braiding Sweetgrass Robin Wall Kimmerer harvests serviceberries alongside the birds, she considers the ethic of reciprocity that lies at the heart of the gift economy. How, she asks, can we learn from Indigenous wisdom and the plant world to reimagine what we value most? Our economy is rooted in scarcity, competition, and the hoarding of resources, and we have surrendered our values to a system that actively harms what we love. Meanwhile, the serviceberry’s relationship with the natural world is an embodiment of reciprocity.

I loved the premise, the writing and the narrator. There was nothing that I did not like.

Historia
In 1972, when workers in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, were digging the foundations for a new development, the last thing they expected to find was a skeleton at the bottom of a well. Who the skeleton was and how it got there were two of the long-held secrets kept by the residents of Chicken Hill, the dilapidated neighborhood where immigrant Jews and African Americans lived side by side and shared ambitions and sorrows. Chicken Hill was where Moshe and Chona Ludlow lived when Moshe integrated his theater and where Chona ran the Heaven & Earth Grocery Store.

Well developed characters and relationships
Revisado: 03-04-24
This book was hard to follow at times. Yet, the characters, their relationships and the incredible story, made it worth reading, and maybe even worth reading more than once, which is something that I hardly ever do. The narrator was exceptionally talented and was able to speak in multiple accents, and to make his characters consistently believeable.

Historia
Isabel Gibson has all but perfected the art of forgetting. She’s a New Yorker now, with nothing left to tie her to Brinkley’s Island, Maine. Her parents are gone, the family bookstore is all but bankrupt, and her sister, Sophie, will probably never speak to her again. But when a mysterious letter arrives in her mailbox, Isabel feels herself drawn to the past. After years of fighting for her independence, she dreads the thought of going back to the island.

I loved this short story
Revisado: 05-30-23
It captured a broken relationship between two sisters and it’s simple restoration. It read like a fairy tale, as it was written in the voice of one of the sisters whose emotional growth was hampered by a childhood trauma, that of loosing her mother and being raised by a traumatized father. The fairy tale quality of the story did not bother me at all. It was. sweet and exceptionally lovely and well written story. The narrator was fabulous, which made this story come to life with n the best possible way. I am planning to look for more audible books narrated by Jennifer Jill Araya!

Creativity: A Viable Path towards Spirituality
Revisado: 05-18-22
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and was happy to see someone as influential as Julia Cameron talk about the relationship between Creativity and Spirituality. I am an Artist and a Clinical Psychologist who has always viewed both my painting practice and at one time, my therapy practice as spiritual practices, above all else. This book was good personal account of the way our creative practices have the power to connect us to our spirituality. Thank you Julia Cameron for spreading the word so eloquently.
