Historia
Taking an analytical approach to Hogwarts's irascible, protective Potions professor, author Lorrie Kim presents a closer look at how Dumbledore's double agent operates behind the scenes throughout the Harry Potter series. By examining the story from Snape's point of view, this in-depth exploration pierces the defenses of the wizarding world's famed Occlumens, revealing the man for who he truly is: one of pop culture's most memorable heroes.

A bit obsessive
Revisado: 02-22-25
Really great insight into the complex and unique character of snape.
One of the greatest things about Harry Potter was its focus on creativity and masterful story weaving- which is why I found it annoying and unnecessary for the author to obsess over snape as a potential closet trans (especially since the author clearly opposes that ideology and therefore didn’t intend it) and hating on the light hearted scene of him wearing Neville’s grandmother’s hat to relieve a child fear with laughter.

Needs to study more history
Revisado: 04-01-24
Hard to take a historical fiction seriously when it’s so off historically.
The area wasn’t named Palestine until 100 years after this timeline so some of the arguments literally didn’t exists
Also it was called the kingdom or region of Judea not Israel at the time

Historia
Ex-military policeman Jack Reacher is a drifter. He’s just passing through Margrave, Georgia, and in less than an hour, he’s arrested for murder. Not much of a welcome. All Reacher knows is that he didn’t kill anybody. At least not here. Not lately. But he doesn’t stand a chance of convincing anyone. Not in Margrave, Georgia. Not a chance in hell.

Nice plot. Feeding a spouse’s intimate body parts to the other parent while their child watches seems unnecessarily gory for a mainstream readers taste

Historia
Jack Diller is just one more struggling actor on the road to nowhere. He’s got an agent who barely remembers his name, his ex-girlfriend has hooked up with a Silicon Valley dude, and the milk in his fridge is so far past its sell-by date it’s historic. The only way Jack can scrape together a bare existence is by delivering food to exactly the types of successful people he wishes he could be. Then, one day, a very strange audiobook shows up on his phone.

Asian story lines are usually more creative in their storytelling and romance. This just felt like a western story with Asian characters where the climax of the story includes a night in a hotel rather than actual depth of relationship.

Revisado: 12-06-20
We’ll put aside the croaky sound the narrater gives one of the characters...Having read Klavan books before I can’t figure out what this series endeavor is all about? The premise is like Ted Dekker’s circle series but not written as good and incredibly unlikeable characters. Often nonstop swearing and chick characters described crudely - not to mention random nymphs who “gave him the best orgasm ever” as part of their healing his wounds. Just not sure what the point is. Not what I’ve come to expect from Klavans work.

I usually love British narrators as they make the story sound higher class and this book should’ve been perfect for that. Also it’s possible that the British terminology made it hard for me to stay focused on the story. Having said that...
I don’t know if it was the writing or the narrator but I had the hardest time following this story. I also didn’t understand how werewolves and vampires fit into the genre??? I was hoping to like the series and went back multiple times to try to follow what was happening but as I painfully pushed through the finish line I concluded the only benefit I think this book had was that it was dull enough to help me fall asleep at night

Plot was a nice idea, too bad writing wasn’t
Revisado: 04-12-20
Decent story though I don’t understand who the intended audience is for this book. If it’s teens and tweens then why the F bombs? If it’s YA then why the cringe cheesy romance? Didn’t care for the creepy narrator at the end of every chapter. That part was probably better in written form
