Suspension of Disbelief

I couldn't enjoy the book due to the numerous foolish things the MC chose to do and then the way things kept working out for him. Perhaps a younger audience would find the book compelling, but for me, there were too many inexplicable happenings for me to really get into it.

We did all this for nothing!

The story is still going strong, despite the constant belief of the MC that "it was all for nothing!", I wouldn't mind if the kid learned a bit and moved on past making up the existential crises in his mind. I didn't count how many times I heard the MC's by-line "it was all for nothing," but I heard it often enough that I thought I should count. Someone else should count it for me, and leave a post.
Ok, I'll mention the mobes too, because it bears mentioning. Perhaps some phonetic catastrophe occurred in the world of the book that left them unable to pronounce "mob" normally. But I think the narrator likes driving all the listeners absolutely bonkers.
The story is still great, and I'm digging the series. Well worth the listen in my humble opinion.

I found the premise excellent, and I enjoyed it. The audio wasn't my favorite, but it was acceptable. The MC is a seventeen-year-old and behaves like ... a seventeen-year-old ... confounded by nearly everything, making up scenarios to believe with little or no evidence, and then frustrated he completely misunderstood the situation.
