This narrator's accent was just too thick for me to get through this. I love the stories and I'm a big fan of the writer but I couldn't stomach the narration.

Enjoyable if a tad long overview of an American original

Grew to love this, but it took some time. Arthur Morey is terrific, even if he occasionally sounds like he needs a glass of water or a nap. Barnum bursts into life here and I enjoyed the level of detail

Hit a wall with this a few hours in because I felt too inundated with historical context and lost sight of General Dumas. But I eventually picked it back up and I’m very glad I did. What an incredible character and the depth of Reiss’ research is astounding. Very grateful to have learned about the real Count and would recommend this to any fan of the younger Dumas’ novel

Unexpectedly profound, highly recommend

I suspected that Danny Trejo might have an interesting story but I had no idea that I was in for such an overpowering, unbelievably honest and open journey when I downloaded this. I have recommended this book to everyone I know, especially in audiobook form. Maybe Trejo isn’t the fastest reader but he brings an emotionality, depth and a sense of humor to this material that is invaluable.
Loved this. Much respect to Trejo and Donal Logue for putting together such a powerful memoir.

Perfect marriage of writing and performance

Loved every minute. Quaid is terrific. Love him or hate him, Tom Wolfe had a fantastic and absolutely essential grip on the early space flight program and the ethos of the fighter pilot/astronaut. Will revisit this!
