Historia
Bringing together the imaginative strategies of fiction storytelling and new ways of narrating true, real-life events, creative nonfiction is the fastest-growing part of the creative writing world. It's a cutting-edge genre that's reshaping how we write (and read) everything from biographies and memoirs to blogs and public speaking scripts to personal essays and magazine articles.

Helpful for a Newcomer
Revisado: 02-17-23
I was initially turned off by some of the more critical reviews. However, I found the book loaded with content that was relevant and informative, and my writing has seen a change for the better as a result.

Historia
Written in clear, accessible language, this book seeks to free listeners from their suffering by drawing attention to the direct experience of self as abiding, loving, boundless awareness. Using practical exercises and meditations, the author guides listeners through a process of spiritual awakening, deconstructing self-delusions and integrating a new concept of existence that is free from the suffering of individual selfhood, but which acknowledges the attachments, traumatic experiences, and emotional pain of being human.

A Great Guide
Revisado: 11-23-22
I found this to be a thorough and helpful guide for opening to awareness. I most appreciated the chapters on shadow material and the mechanisms of unconscious suffering.

Historia
The great human quest is to discover who we really are-a discovery that changes our lives and the lives of those around us. With The Deep Heart, spiritual teacher and psychotherapist Dr. John J. Prendergast invites us on a pilgrimage within. The "deep heart" is Prendergast's term for our heart center-a subtle center of emotional and energetic sensitivity, relational intimacy, profound inner knowing, and unconditional love. "The heart area is where we feel most deeply touched by kindness, gratitude, and appreciation, yet it is also where we feel most emotionally wounded".

Deep Gratitude for The Deep Heart
Revisado: 12-05-20
I took a chance on this book after it came up in a search for Adyashanti and was most pleasantly rewarded. The book presents a very clear guide for deepening access to something that I'd guess is sought by many. Prior to listening to this book, opening up to the heart level of presence felt as if it was something I would never achieve, that I was somehow flawed. This book proved otherwise and as the practices started to bring me into direct contact with a feeling of warm and spacious openness that appears to be continually revealing itself.
While it's been incredibly complimentary to my contemplative life, it's also been helpful to my daily life. I've always found it challenging to "get out of my head" and that's impacted just about everything, yet, there has been a shift since going through this book. I feel closer to the people around me, more at ease at work, and am generally happier, too. So, it's been really good!
There were, of course, moments when my mind really wanted to hang on to something and that commonly appeared as becoming suddenly tired, but as I tried not to escape that, I found the heart was there to meet me along the way. If you've practiced meditation you many be familiar with such things, but I want to mention it because this book is far from superficial and that means being pretty real with our self. Fortunately, being real is where you can find the richness.
