Historia
It’s the middle of the night when part-time police consultant and full-time empath Reece gets an anonymous call warning him that his detective sister needs his help. At an out-of-the-way Seattle marina, he discovers that three people have been butchered—including the author of the country’s strictest anti-empathy bill, which is just days from being passed into law. Soon, Reece’s caller arrives: a shadowy government agent known as The Dead Man, who is rumored to deal exclusively in cases involving empathy.

Revisado: 03-04-23
Love the plot! This was such man original premise and it turned out great. I’m already reaching with gimme gimme hands for the story to continue.
I’ve never heard of this author before but you better believe I’m going to look if she has more books bc she is an incredible storyteller.

Great story but wrong narrator
Revisado: 02-16-23
I read the book and enjoyed it so much that I bought the audiobook. I was disappointed to find that the narrator was a woman. To delve into a book and really feel like you are part of the story you have to suspend disbelief a bit. When a story has a male MC and a male love interest it really throws you off if the narrator is a woman.
It took me a long while to slip into the story. I own 1 other book with this issue and have only listened to it again once since buying it 10 years ago.
Unfortunately this audiobook will most likely be like that one. This was a good book but don’t waste your money on it if you are wanting something to enjoy multiple times. It wasn’t worth the money to buy for a one time listen.
I hope if the sequel becomes an audiobook that the people that put it together get a male narrator. That is the only way I will buy the next one.

Revisado: 04-01-22
Fabulous story, great narration. I didn’t realize this was the second book in a series when I bought it so I had to back up and get the first one five minutes in. Really glad I did. I usually don’t like period pieces from this time period so it was a total fluke I even bought it and I’m seriously glad I did. I feel like I discovered a great new author and a narrator that is also new to me. I’m for sure looking into what else they have to offer. BUY IT!!! You won’t regret it.

Revisado: 02-24-22
This was a great book. I loved the main characters and am really hoping that K’s brother gets his own book.
And where did the narrator come from like seriously great voice and the way he delivers the dialogue! Just wow! I will be keeping an eye out for both these guys. Just a slam dunk all around.

When they meet by chance at an event Carter’s boss is organizing, Carter’s sure he imagined all that sizzling chemistry. Or was it mutual?

The best thing I’ve heard this year
Revisado: 05-26-21
The writing was superb. I was blown away by it and how entertaining everything was. I laughed so much.
BUT if you buy this book I warn you not to listen to it when your household is asleep bc you’re going to laugh out loud so hard during a particularly funny scene that you’ll wake someone up and they’ll be like “what are you doing! It’s late and you are so loud in here.” True story.
Seriously you won’t regret buying this audiobook. The narration was perfection. Urie’s depiction of the Queen and Aunt Muriel were wonderful.

Wow!!
Revisado: 11-25-20
So I love audiobooks and quite often give them high ratings bc of the joy they bring me but this audiobook made me question my rating. Like this was one of the best I’ve ever listened to that it surpassed anything I usually give 5 stars. I’m like damn I’ve been easy with my ratings bc this deserves the highest rating ever and the 5 stars I usually use are so far beneath what this one deserves.
Yup!! If a genre you like includes bdsm, this is a must buy. I can’t believe I’ve never heard of them before, so far there are 5 books in the series and I hope they all get the chance to be turned into audiobooks. Just damn, I’m blown away.

The book in which Jackson crosses a line
Revisado: 08-13-20
Greer’s son Jackson isn’t in the book too much but when he is I want to yell at him. He’s not supportive and at one point almost commits violence. The fact that it’s glossed over and forgiven pretty easily is maddening. Abusive alphahole behavior against an omega is not cool. I liked the book a lot and it’s my only complaint in how Jackson doesn’t get called out for being so awful.

If I had to describe Sean Bailey, it would be: A surly, temperamental pain in my ass. Never in that equation would I ever include the word boyfriend - and not just because he’s straight. The older brother of my life-long best friend, Sean is a detective for the Chicago PD, and is also known as Detective “Dick” for being...well, a surly, temperamental pain in everyone’s ass. He also happens to be the best they have, which is why I find myself on his doorstep the night my life is threatened by an anonymous stalker.

I loved this audiobook. It’s an age gap with bdsm romance. Warning: there is a water sports scene but it’s easy to skip if you don’t want to hear it.
I am super excited for the next book to come out to find out what happens to Yoshi’s brother Conner and his love interest Norse god looking chef Oz.
