Historia
Great software is something to marvel at: powerful, elegant, functional, a pleasure to work with as both a developer and as a user. Great software isn’t written by machines. It is written by professionals with an unshakable commitment to craftsmanship. The Clean Coder will help you become one of them - and earn the pride and fulfillment that they alone possess.

Historia
Every day Iona, a larger-than-life magazine advice columnist, travels the ten stops from Hampton Court to Waterloo Station by train, accompanied by her dog, Lulu. Every day she sees the same people, whom she knows only by nickname: Impossibly-Pretty-Constant-Reader and Terribly-Lonely-Teenager. Of course, they never speak. Seasoned commuters never do. Then one morning, the man she calls Smart-But-Sexist-Manspreader chokes on a grape right in front of her. He’d have died were it not for the timely intervention of Sanjay, a nurse, who gives him the Heimlich maneuver.

Someone out there will say this is formulaic, it might be. However, there is a grace that you feel, comes from Iona throughout.

Historia
Now hailed as an American classic, Tropic of Cancer, Henry Miller's masterpiece, was banned as obscene in this country for 27 years after its first publication in Paris in 1943. Only a historic court ruling that changed American censorship standards, ushering in a new era of freedom and frankness in modern literature, permitted the publication of this first volume of Miller's famed mixture of memoir and fiction.

That drive to quell drive
Revisado: 12-27-23
A tale of a cad, a fairly week human, these follies that make up the vast majority of us. Ignore the course writing style and it, Tropic of Cancer, could supply the pieces that are left out of those masterpieces that cloak and suggest or allude to what drives all of us.

Historia
When Humphrey Van Weyden finds himself struggling in the freezing waters of San Francisco Bay, he thinks the worst that can happen to him is drowning. After he is rescued by the Ghost and its captain, Wolf Larson, Humphrey discovers that there are fates far worse than death. On Larsen's hell-ship, the dilettante hero is forced to slave as cabin boy and humble seaman. And over the seven months' voyage to the sealing grounds off Siberia, he engages in an epic duel with his ruthlessly Nietzschean skipper.

From use of the language to the feel of sailing…
Revisado: 07-29-23
I am not a true sailor, trained, no real hours in blue water; you can read with need, ability and opportunity’s pen/story I should think this one I will need to read every year to remind me that even though I was never living on others legs (which once typed - feels like a lie as modern life is about forcing all to use others’ legs?), how those blisters are missed and what is meant to earn respect from my own eyes in the mirror.
Like those who would or would not survive the Yokon,
Plausible and implausible pieces are sewn together in this highly underrated book.
Is there an equivalent out there for women, a movie, Land, comes to mind,
But the description is lost to the visual and our wondering of the why? The randomness at the end of the story instead of the beginning, which lessens the value of starving in the wilderness.
