Awesome
Revisado: 12-04-24
Diverse, creative speculative fiction.. Horror. Loved the new (to me) voices- authors and narrators. There was no anxious breath holding, does the protagonist survive? She was the Black girl, I knew she would. Allowed me to relax into the stories, enjoy the thrills and nuisances of well written horror. 10/10 ✨️

Revisado: 12-12-21
enjoyed the story. really wish it wasn't a series, seems a little drawn out (especially for the length of the book). the narration didn't work for me. many grammatical errors and missed cultural nuances. I sped up the playback to 1.5x, made it a bit better. I'm interested in what happens next, but I look forward to reading part 2 as opposed to listening.

Historia
In the Technicolor glow of the early 70s, Jessica B. Harris debated, celebrated, and danced her way from the jazz clubs of the Manhattan's West Side to the restaurants of the Village, living out her buoyant youth alongside the great minds of the day - luminaries like Maya Angelou, James Baldwin, and Toni Morrison. My Soul Looks Back is her paean to that fascinating social circle and the depth of their shared commitment to activism, intellectual engagement, and each other.
