Historia
Jack Torrance's new job at the Overlook Hotel is the perfect chance for a fresh start. As the off-season caretaker at the atmospheric old hotel, he'll have plenty of time to spend reconnecting with his family and working on his writing. But as the harsh winter weather sets in, the idyllic location feels ever more remote...and more sinister. And the only one to notice the strange and terrible forces gathering around the Overlook is Danny Torrance, a uniquely gifted five-year-old.

So enjoyable
Revisado: 10-20-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Anytime people say the love the movie I tell them to read / listen to the book. Or at least Google what King has to say about the movie, that's what finally got me to listen to the book myself.
What did you like best about this story?
Beautiful character development and POV's. Jack really goes bonkers.
Which scene was your favorite?
Danny and Dick's first communication.
Who was the most memorable character of The Shining and why?
Danny - especially because I've read Doctor Sleep. Jack going bonkers.
Any additional comments?
Read Doctor Sleep - even if you don't read The Shining (it's not a prerequisite).

Historia
In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

Love the 80's?
Revisado: 10-20-15
What did you like best about Ready Player One? What did you like least?
The 80's references and trivia were fun. I liked Wil Wheaton as a narrator but he can put too much emphasis on words in each sentence. Example: "It's JUST like listening to someone who KNOWS EVERYTHING about a subject AND will be sure you know it." Kinda like that through the whole book. But for me it didn't stop me from finishing the book.
What could Ernest Cline have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Great idea but it was a point A to point B story line. No real twists. Maybe this is for young adults - but most of the 80's trivia and culture might be lost on them: unless they submerse themselves in nothing but the 80's as the younger characters do. I am the same age as the older character James Halliday and would have liked to know more about his thoughts on how people our age coped with the changes of the world. The fond memories of the 80's was nice but more character development would have been interesting for me.
What three words best describe Wil Wheaton’s voice?
Speaking in CAPS.
Was Ready Player One worth the listening time?
Yes, but I didn't lose sleep over it the way I did with ASOIAF (to give one example).
Any additional comments?
I was really excited about the potential this plot had but I think its more of a simple and enjoyable story that is "okay".

Historia
LT has a theory about pets, particularly his Siamese cat. It had been their cat, not just his cat, but that was until he came home one day to find a note on the fridge from his wife saying she had left him. Recorded live at the Royal Festival Hall in London, this story demonstrates yet again that no one can tell a tale like Stephen King. Available only in audio!

Overpriced.
Revisado: 03-04-15
Best part: it's read by King. Okay story, but not a thriller by any means. The cover art is more tempting than the story really is.

Up to date tips
Revisado: 02-04-15
The information is current and reflects the interview styles that I've been a part of recently. The author gives specific answers to tough questions while also giving you food for thought on basic things like "tell me about yourself". You'll learn what they really want to know and what to leave out. He also reminds the listener what the interviewer cannot legally ask but can use if you bring it up. There are tips on what to say to politely move around direct questions about your race, religion and other personal questions that should not be on the table. Overall, this is worth listening to.

Shades of 11/22/63
Revisado: 02-01-15
King toying with alternate realities equals genius. I also like the fact that when approached to write an ebook for Kindle, King said he would only do it if the story was ABOUT Kindle - 'atta boy! So, if you enjoy the 'what if', or the novel 11/22/63, this is a good one for you.

Historia
Dean Evers, an elderly widower, sits in front of the television with nothing better to do than waste his leftover evenings watching baseball. It’s Rays/Mariners, and David Price is breezing through the line-up. Suddenly, in a seat a few rows up beyond the batter, Evers sees the face of someone from decades past, someone who shouldn’t be at the ballgame, shouldn’t be on the planet. And so begins a parade of people from Evers’s past, all of them occupying that seat behind home plate. Until one day Dean Evers sees someone even eerier….

Historia
From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan ("the devil") and placed a bounty on his head.

Good to know before the movie comes out
Revisado: 01-09-15
The narrator's fake Texas accent gets old quickly. He pronounces things like everthin' and shootin', ... Basically rootin' tootin' boot scootin'. Then the part where he sounds like he's going to weep while recounting a friends death- very unnecessary and creepy.
Kyle's story is fun and interesting but gets repetitive, and while he has earned his bragging rights, he does make you want to say 'yeah, we get it!'
But it's worth listening to. I'm glad I did. I have a lot of respect for what he's done and all our military.
