Down to earth story from always dependable Anne Tyler. She never disappoints but on the other hand, it’s never overly exciting either.

Extraordinary book & narration. Only Safiya could have narrated this book. She is a poet above all else!

Perfectly performed story of an 8 yr old boy as he survives abandonment, foster homes, an opioid epidemic, and poverty in rural SW Virginia.

One of the best nature books I’ve heard. This ranks with H is for Hawks!

Lepore races through like she wants to get the damn thing over with! I tried to slow it down but then she sounded drugged. It’s a shame...the content is fascinating—all of it. I guess it’s better read than listened to.

This was quite an interesting memoir but was severely hampered by the reader's performance. Her endless mispronunciation of the word "root" to "rut" was increasingly annoying and then became a distraction. She read too slowly as if we were perhaps non English speaking listeners--I had to increase the speed of the reading which can sound a little manic! Too bad- probably better to read it than listen to it!

This is an outstanding autobiography of a life of surfing interspersed with working, writing and living all over the world. William Finnegan juggles his life while following his passion. Beautifully and thoughtfully narrated, you're on his board with him.

Obviously written for a very young teenaged girl, this book cried out for an editor! Full of dreamy, romantic yearnings the narrator seemed hard pressed to find different voices and emotions for the various characters. It was recommended to me because I loved Nina Stibbe's Man at the Helm, exquistely narrated be the very talented Imogene Churchill. This book was genuinely hilarious, witty & poingnant. Capture the Castle, drearily narrated Jenny Agittur, was none of that. I have to wonder why Audible recommended it.

What disappointed you about To the Lighthouse?

I love To the Lighthouse but had never "heard" it before. Nicole Kidman positively
ruined it…mushy articulation, dropped her voice at the end of every sentence and had
that god-awful Australian accent.

What was one of the most memorable moments of To the Lighthouse?

When it was over

What didn’t you like about Nicole Kidman’s performance?

Very poor articulation, dropped her voice at the end of each sentence, literally ran out
of breath. Plus, she has a pronounced Australian accent which clashed with Virginia
Woolf's lovely story.

What character would you cut from To the Lighthouse?

It wasn't the writing--that was wonderful.

Any additional comments?

Miss Kidman should have at least auditioned for the part, rather than just being hired because of her celebrity status.
