Historia
The Beatles shook the world to its core in the 1960’s and, to this day, new generations continue to fall in love with their songs and their story. At the heart of this phenomenon lies the dynamic between John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Few other musical partnerships have been rooted in such a deep, intense and complicated personal relationship.

Balance
Revisado: 05-04-25
According to this author, Paul is a workaholic, and driven taskmaster and John is a dependent, mentally ill wreck — or nearly so. Fans of Paul should love this. Fans of John might feel that their hero is being attacked.
I’ll have to read some other points of view to confirm or deny the information contained in this book.
Lots of interesting details about the group…Ringo and George are also included in the analysis.
The reader has — at least in my opinion — a harsh voice, but makes few mistakes and does a good job.

Historia
Timothy Snyder has been called “the leading interpreter of our dark times.” As a historian, he has given us startling reinterpretations of political collapse and mass killing. As a public intellectual, he has turned that knowledge toward counsel and prediction, working against authoritarianism here and abroad. His book On Tyranny has inspired millions around the world to fight for freedom. Now, in this tour de force of political philosophy, he helps us see exactly what we’re fighting for.

Get this if you want to throw away $1. This is impossible to listen to. Bad editing, bad recording, and music playing during the ENTIRE recording. I’m appalled that Audible has included this in its catalog. Zero stars.

Historia
The Soul of Baseball is as much the story of Buck O'Neil as it is the story of baseball. Driven by a relentless optimism and his two great passions - for America's pastime and for jazz, America's music - O'Neil played solely for love. In an era when greedy, steroid-enhanced athletes have come to characterize professional ball, Posnanski offers a salve for the damaged spirit: the uplifting life lessons of a truly extraordinary man who never missed an opportunity to enjoy and love life.

Mispronounces words
Revisado: 09-28-22
The book itself was good with lots of information, some of it new. The reader, however, mispronounced some proper nouns, most notably, Bahrain, pronouncing it, Bay-ron'...over and over again. Editors should have caught that.
Other than that it was a very good read.

Historia
In her acclaimed 1993 book, Denying the Holocaust, Deborah Lipstadt called David Irving, a prolific writer of books on World War II, "one of the most dangerous spokespersons for Holocaust denial". The following year, after Lipstadt's book was published in the United Kingdom, Irving led a libel suit against Lipstadt and her publisher. Denial, previously published as History on Trial, is Lipstadt's riveting, blow-by-blow account of this singular legal battle.

Renowned and beloved as a prizewinning novelist, Dara Horn has also been publishing penetrating essays since she was a teenager. Often asked by major publications to write on subjects related to Jewish culture - and increasingly in response to a recent wave of deadly anti-Semitic attacks - Horn was troubled to realize what all of these assignments had in common: She was being asked to write about dead Jews, never about living ones.

Disappointed
Revisado: 12-20-21
Equates anti-Zionism with anti-semitism. Ignoring the fact that Israeli government politics and behavior are not always perfect and there are legitimate reasons to be "against" Israeli policies sometimes.
OTOH, lots of good information, insight, history, and understanding of anti-semitism and Jewish life.
Worth reading with caveats.

Historia
For thousands of years, religion has woven its way through societies and people as if it were part and parcel to that society or person. In large measure it was left unexplained and unchallenged, it simply existed. Those who attempted to challenge and expose religion were often persecuted, excommunicated, shunned, or even executed. It could be fatal to explain that which the church, priest, or imam said was unexplainable. Before the germ, viral, and parasite theory of disease, physicians had no tools to understand disease and its propagation.

Terrible, terrible reader
Revisado: 10-04-21
This author should not have read her own book. She’s terrible. Zero stars for the reading.
The book itself is excellent and when I switched to the text version after about 1/10th of the book I enjoyed it much more.
The author as a reader is overly and childishly dramatic. She infuses feelings in quotes that are sometimes inappropriate. Her attempt to use her voice to express meaning fails. Her inability to correctly use dynamics is most disrupting. Quotes and some phrases are nearly yelled at the listener. Other phrases are whispered. In order to hear the latter, you take the chance of damaging your hearing on the former. She also tries and fails to change her voice for different people. It's a pathetic attempt at reading.
This is not worthy of the content of the book...or Audible. Read the book. I returned the audiobook.
