The first book was better, but story line is still interesting.

I don't recall the repeated remarks on women's physical attributes in the first book. The sex scene was totally unnecessary and tg for double time. Set up for next book. I will probably read the next book, just might not wait a year for the audiobook and get an ebook from overdrive.

I try not to purchase books with no reviews but it sounded like a cute cozy. The reviews up now do not mention the part I found objectionable.

After getting maybe half through, I had to stop. Call me a prude, but I do not listen to explicit sex scenes. I think there should have been a warning of this in the description. It was definitely not the sort of book I wanted to listen to.

Hidden Magic in Contemporary London

I really enjoyed this book. I hope there are more books to come. Very fun. Nice way to pull a 'normal' inspector into the magical world.

Fantastic - Best one yet.

The Spiral Wars series has been great from book one, but this one kept me me on my toes all the way (great for getting extra steps per day.)

The books should be read in order. I can't wait for the next one.

I always like John Lee as a narrator, another fine job.

Half a book

I like the Drood books and the NIghtside series, but this one is almost a waste of time. The story gets 2 stars only because I usually like this series.

Gideon Emery is good as usual.

The first and last chapters are pretty good. In-between is a lot of nothing, rework of
old plots. Be warned, the story does not end with this book. It is continued in the next book.

anniversary date from a 3rd, 4th and 5th viewpoint

Less than stellar story - I've already heard anniversary day from 2 viewpoints. Don't need more, don't care about about these people. Skip this book if you don't like repetition. Hearing the same thing over and over and, well you get the point. 2 books without Miles and Noelle.

I'm glad to see that I am not the only person who found the lengthy pauses between chapters very annoying. Overall, this is an entertaining light-hearted series.

Abridged version leaves out too much

I've read all the Amelia Peabody books and have been listening to them while on the treadmill. I resisted getting any of the abridged ones until I ran out of unabridged. I must say, abridged books are terrible. As the other reviewers have said too much is left out.
