Utterly boring
Revisado: 04-04-25
The characters were completely undeveloped and downright unlikable. I did not care what happened to any of them. The narrator was painful, and the whiny voice and warbling was excruciating. I kept fast forwarding through the lifetime movie portions, and finally just jumped ahead to the very end to see what happened, even though I really didn’t care. It was a complete waste of a credit waste a credit!

narrator ruined the book
Revisado: 09-07-24
I like this author's books, but gave up on it by the end of chapter 1. The narrator sounds like a robot, and my attention kept drifting, not to mention that her voice started to get downright annoying. I remembered that she was the narrator for the Stillhouse Lake books, and I had the same issue then. I did not listen to the preview before purchasing, or I would have passed. Most likely a good book if reading it. I gave the story 4 stars because I cannot rate that portion because of listening to so little of the book. Thankfully, it was a sale book, so only $7 lost.

Absolutely boring
Revisado: 01-26-24
After the first few dramatic chapters, this book devolved into chapter after chapter of absolute dullness and unnecessary details. It did not take long to really not care about the characters because they were frankly annoying. It was too late to return the book, so I tried skipping chapters, but just gave up. There is no action in this book, and I got tired of waiting for something to happen. I would rather take the hit on the credit than slog through this book. I did not prefer the male narration.

Boring
Revisado: 05-11-23
I do not understand the stellar reviews for this book. It just dragged on and on without anything particularly interesting happening. The plot lines regarding the drug company and the missing child were rather ridiculous. The only interesting plot line is the one involving the crime reporter with amnesia. All other characters fell flat for me. I will not bother with any further books by this author.

Good book annoying narration
Revisado: 05-04-23
This was a solid story that kept my interest, but I do not like this narrator. I have listened to other audio books which she has narrated, and it always sounds like she is about to cry. I forgot to check the name of the narrator before I purchased, or I would have passed. I will not listen to another book with this narrator. Sorry Brittany. Otherwise, the story was entertaining.

I loved the development of all of the characters. Almost turning into a lord of the flies crescendo. Some people might be offended by the subject matter but I found it to be a unique book, I enjoyed all of the different characters, and the narrators were excellent

Falls short for this talented author
Revisado: 01-25-22
I have listened to all of this author's books. I have particularly enjoyed the Joseph O'Loughlin series, which are so clever and well-written and narrated. In fact, I have listened to them more than once. This book felt like it was written by an entirely different author, and if it had been the first book I came across by MR I would not have listened to another one. The main character makes so many ridiculous mistakes that it became absurd. The character was not likeable, nor any characters for that matter. I am sorry to say, but this book is a complete stinker.

Terrible
Revisado: 04-20-21
This is probably one of the worst books I've listened to in a while. I am not sure why I even finished it. The characters were completed undeveloped, and I really could have cared less about any of them. The premise of the story was interesting, but the writing fell flat. I will not buy any further books from this author. The narrators were fine.

It's August 1984, and paperboy Christopher Stewart has gone missing. Hours later, 12-year-old Sammy Cox hurries home from his own paper route, red-faced and out of breath, hiding a terrible secret. Crystal, Sammy's 17-year-old sister, is worried by the disappearance but she also sees an opportunity: the Stewart case has echoes of an earlier unsolved disappearance of another boy, one town over. Crystal senses the makings of an award-winning essay, one that could win her a scholarship - and a ticket out of their small Iowa town.

wow! Excellent book and narration
Revisado: 04-20-21
This book grabbed me from the first chapter, and kept my attention to the end. The author developed the story beautifully, with truly compelling characters with whom the readers can connect and care about. This story is about a very sensitive subject, but the author weaved a great story while still handling the subject matter with respect. You will NOT regret buying this book. I loved the narrator's voice.

just dragged along
Revisado: 09-01-20
This book is guilty of way too many words and not enough action. I felt like nothing really happened from the first chapter to the last hour when you finally find out what happened to Adam. Finally. Everything in between felt like pure fluff with very uninteresting characters. I lost my patience at the last 90 minutes of the book and fast forwarded until I got the answer, and then ended it because I really didn't care enough about this book to bother to finish it. Sorry, just a snore. The narrator is good though.
