Historia
Ta-Nehisi Coates originally set out to write a book about writing, in the tradition of Orwell’s classic “Politics and the English Language,” but found himself grappling with deeper questions about how our stories—our reporting and imaginative narratives and mythmaking—expose and distort our realities. In the first of the book’s three intertwining essays, Coates, on his first trip to Africa, finds himself in two places at once: in Dakar, a modern city in Senegal, and in a mythic kingdom in his mind.

Telling the untold story that needs to be heard. It will infuriate Zionists because the comparisons are hard hitting, yet thought provoking, if you 'remove the veil'

They found the town silent, apparently abandoned. Then they found the first body strangely swollen and still warm. One hundred fifty were dead, 350 missing. But the terror had only begun in the tiny mountain town of Snowfield, California.

Doesn't disappoint or deviate from the usual Koontz MO. Real lives affected by fantastic, deviant forms both real and fantasy.

Historia
On April 13, 1986, ten-year-old Tiger Woods watches his idol, Jack Nicklaus, win his record sixth Masters. Just over a decade later, chants of “Ti-ger, Ti-ger!” ring out as the twenty- one-year-old wins his first Green Jacket. He blazes an incredible path, winning fourteen major titles (second only to Nicklaus himself) by the time he’s thirty- three, smashing records and raising standards. Then come multiple public scandals and potentially career-ending injuries.

Narration full of mispronunciations
Revisado: 09-09-24
Seve is called 'Sieve", nuff said but there are various other "obvious" mispronunciations and makes this a not great experience. Doesn't anyone review these since consumers are being charged?
I was hoping for a little more details such as how he arrived at selections for caddy, clubs, etc but not much there there. Overall was okay.

Historia
On May 1, 1915, with WWI entering its tenth month, a luxury ocean liner as richly appointed as an English country house sailed out of New York, bound for Liverpool, carrying a record number of children and infants. The passengers were surprisingly at ease, even though Germany had declared the seas around Britain to be a war zone. For months, German U-boats had brought terror to the North Atlantic.

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

Clever book
Revisado: 07-20-22
In many ways this book is clever and kept me interested throughout. It intertwines in ways I didn't expect, but that is a reason I enjoyed this very much! I would give it a 5 but the narrations when actors imitate the opposite sex are a drag. They even had a female narrator at one point but didn't use her throughout which was annoying. I read another book that was the opposite of this one w/ a female portraying a male voice and it was laughable.
I do recommend this book and will explore more work by this author.

Historia
Martha Hale is an affable wife and mother who lives in an affluent neighborhood of well-tended lawns and high expectations. If only her clumsiness at penetrating the social circles of her neighbors weren’t making Martha so lonely. That’s why she’s thrilled when the glamorous Minnie Foster, a former high school classmate, moves in next door. Despite Martha’s determination, picking up where they left off is trickier than anticipated—especially when their memories of the past don’t always align. But Martha is undeterred.

great story
Revisado: 07-04-22
This is great story telling. The male characters could be fleshed out a bit more but I like the interactions that play out as real. I had audio version and didn't love the female narrators' imitation of male voices that sounded like, well, a female imitating a male :-)
The main character, Martha, has the audacity to talk and look down on gossipy West U people but actually does ultimate nosy things!
I will look for other titles by this author and loved references to hometown locations, etc.

Before Chipper Jones became an eight-time All-Star who amassed Hall of Fame-worthy statistics during a 19-year career with the Atlanta Braves, he was just a country kid from small-town Pierson, Florida. A kid who grew up playing baseball in the backyard with his dad, dreaming that one day he'd be a major league ballplayer. With his trademark candor and astonishing recall, Chipper Jones tells the story of his rise to the MLB ranks and what it took to stay with one organization his entire career in an era of booming free agency.

Good insight to ballplayer life
Revisado: 04-17-17
Nice insight into career but I kept wanting more. It is nice he didn't name names on steroids, unless he knew for certain. It is also good to know that Canseco was full of it worn his bloated numbers about players using steroids. Some stories sound like bull crap but hey, I want there.
