I felt nostalgic for my twenties

Loved it and it was a beautiful coming of age for a twenty year old. Glad the main character found her voice. I hope she is doing better and better in her fictional world.

I felt the stories deeply and relatable for myself or the people I loved. I have never read something this raw about how living in the margins of society can be detrimental to your mental and physical health. I hope everyone reads this because it’s a small and mighty book of essays. I used it for a book club of a very diverse audience and everyone learned and empathy with everyone.

My mom and I are immigrants to America and our relationship was similar to Michele and her mom. Michelle gave me a deeper appreciation for my mom and how she kept my native country’s traditions and cultures alive. Our family also uses food as a love language. Thank you Michelle for the visuals, it felt like I was listening to a friend sharing their life story.

I loved every minute of this story. I also grew up as the token black person in many schools. Gabby writes/narrates this story like an older sister can only do. Get some wine and listen up. I laughed and cried in this one many times.

This is a great manual for how to behave on social media and in life. We all make mistakes but we have the ability to fix them. This book is a manual for that. I went through a series of emotion. From laughing, shock, disgust and back again. There is hope for the call out culture. I will be listening to this book again and again.
