The Samurai fiction you've been looking for!

After watching shows like "Samurai Champloo" and "Ninja Scroll", I never understood why I couldn't find any books with a similar feel. This novel changes the game completely. If you are a fan of anime or any film by Akira Kurosawa then stop reading this review and immediately pick this book up. The action is so well written that you can completely see and feel the battles in every detail. Rob J. Hayes humor and wit shows through as always. Even though it is a book surrounded by action, the characters were not one dimensional and I found myself rooting for those that I didn't originally. I believe it's only a matter of time before this is picked up to be made in a different form of media, but don't let that stop you from starting here. I had read that this is a "stand alone" novel, but that Rob J. Hayes may write more stories in this world. After finishing this novel, I was ready to start again from page 1.


I was very excited to hear about this book coming out but as my schedule is very busy, audiobooks are the way I consume most books. So finding this on Audible was perfect.

Set Sail, for my new favorite series!

Gritty, badass, dry and hilarious, action packed, complex characters, and a plot that twists and turns.

You know that feeling where you finish reading/watching something and need to consume everything you can about the subject? "Where Loyalties Lie" will be that. As soon as I finished, I immediately went to Audible to find the second book. Knowing this is a book series is even more exciting.

I've always wished for more "pirates" in the fiction genre, but Scott Lynch's "Red Seas Under Red Skies" (which I also loved) was one of the few I could find. Then, this book rocked my world.

Being a giant fan of "grimdark" and reading Mark Lawrence's review of this book, I was very excited to get a chance to read it. I have a very busy schedule, so audiobooks are the way to go for me and this was just released through Audible. The narrator, Matthew Jackson, is the perfect fit and I can't wait until the rest of the series is released. I am hoping he continues to narrate.

Weird West at its best!

This was my first taste of anything written by Pdmac, and I am so very glad I found it. I had not listened to the first book in the series (which now I will definitely be going back to read the first). This being said, I do not normally jump into a series without starting with book one, but I was very quickly able to get in "the saddle" and along for the ride. I am sure I may have missed some backstory, but I was still able to enjoy it. Steve Wannall's performance in the audiobook was spot on and I finished this book within 3 days.

Even though there elements of Steampunk, I think this story is more of a Weird West tale. This is a genre that I am always looking for, but so very rarely able to find.

A great thriller with amazing narration!

The story is told from the perspective of the lead detective and the other half from the killer. Both sides we're thrilling and the narration was top notch! If you're looking for a thriller, look no further.

Lovecraft Noir!

Amazing. Narrator hooked me after one chapter. Story is great, and you end up loving the badass characters. Can't wait for the next book!
